Well, Its not manufacturers who are copying . Its basically competition which has led manufacturers to "pool in " parts of various models and try and get a good saleable working model .

Secondly , Most of the car companies do not develop models on their own , they just run to the nearest sucessful design firm and get a working design rather than waste time on R&D .

For ex-palio and indica were designed by the same design firm.

TO develop an engine alone -for example a ducati engine cost around 5 million dollars ,sharing most of the parts .

The front is so near the original.

Hyundai has always been first on the copying front. But this time the i10 was accepted very nicely. Good for Hyundai.

The Ford looks so much better. I'd so get it over the Hyundai.

Arrey Salil, that's not even copying man! Here's an example of what real copying looks like:

Don't just blame the Chinese, everybody out here's a copycat!!-112_0704_15zbyd_f8front.jpg

Both products are by a Chinese company called BYD, can you guess which all cars have the styling cues come from?

the F8 car borrows the front from the SL merc and the rears takes inspiration from the beemer. funnily, the vent usually found on the bottom corner of the fender on a SL has been put behind the door in the F8. thats looking stupid.
and that silver sedan seems to be a rip off of the last gen Corolla.

Huge resemblance to the Renault Megane CC as well from the rear.

You should see the interior of that silder sedan, then. If you were dropped into it blindfolded and then made to look at it, you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. That's until you press / touch somethng, of course

Land Wind X7 .
Apparently, Land Rover CEO is approaching Chinese officials as it qualifies for property theft.

It looks as if the Chinese have de-badged the RR Evoque and have added their brand name.

I am wondering what would be its price . I think many Indians would buy this 'Land Wind' and put the Land Rover badges to it !!
May be the Land wind guys can sell the Land rover badges too with the car !

Well, the price is 1/4th of the Evoque. But dont think the appeal against them from Land Rover will not affect as this aint the first time.

Re: Don't just blame the Chinese, everybody out here's a copycat!!

Costs GBP14,000, compared to GBP40,000 for the RR Evoque!

Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Dr Ralf Speth told Autocar, "The fact that this kind of copying is ongoing in China is very disappointing. The intellectual property (IP) is owned by Jaguar Land Rover and if you break that IP then you are in breach of international regulations.’
