Talking of RAV 4


A Two Door RAV 4 AWD. The most liked Car that I ever had., The Doors were so wide that, to pull Seat Belt, driver had to turn back to reach it. There was ample space behind the Front Seats to sneak through to Rear Seats. Having used this one, my daughter were so fascinated, that a decade later, she has bought a RAV 4 for herself now in USA.

Toyota's C-SUV to be unveiled in Taiwan , later this year.







- GA-C platform-derived product 740B ( code name)

- RAV4 has been upgraded from the existing C-Segment generation to near D-Segment, so the platform has also been upgraded from GA-C to GA-K.

- Specifications will follow the set of the domestic Corolla Altis (Taiwan)

- Two Powertrains:

1.8 2ZR-FAE natural gas engine and 1.8 HYBRID THS II two powertrain settings, the former can provide 140hp/6400rpm maximum horsepower and 17.6kgm/4000rpm peak torque output, combined with CVT-Super-variable-free System;

The latter is a setting shared with Prius, with a maximum output of 98ps/5, 200rpm, maximum torque of 14.5kgm/3,600rpm; electric motor 1NM maximum output of 72ps, maximum torque 16.6kgm; electric motor 1MM maximum output 7.2ps, maximum torque 5.6kgm, with ECVT variable speed system.

Toyota Rush, Toyota Raize - Though they are perfect for the Indian market, both were/are Daihatsu collabs, and with the new JV, they probably didn't want that. Okay

Toyota CH-R - Not practical for India. Okay

Toyota Rav4 - Not withstanding the fact that it is cheaper than the Fortuner in many markets, if brought to India, sure that TKM would find it hard to price it competitively, and wouldn't want to cannibalize the Fortuners' fat margins. Okay

Toyota Corolla phased out - Though its arch rival Civic came back, and the new TNGA based Corolla is far more capable than the previous gen, Toyota thought the shrinking segment was not worth pursuing. Okay
Eventhough they do assemble the Camry here..

So by their excuses, they should ideally bring the Corolla Cross to India and price it bang in the 15-25 lakh segment.
If they don't do so, maybe split the company into two. One for selling overpriced BOF vehicles and CBU/CKDs, the other to sell rebadged Marutis.

@volkman10 Sure that they are going to launch it here?
AFAIK, the only thing they are going to launch here in the near future is the Brezza rebadge Urban Cruiser and the Creta rival co-developed with Suzuki, which is probably the next gen Vitara rebadged as Toyota.

Though this one with the 1.8 hybrid, would be a smash hit in India, and would end up in our shopping list next year.

Like how they slipped the old 1.8l engine into the 'local guy', instead of the new 2.0l Dynamic force engine.
