ŠKODA Kodiaq is likely to get a face-lift in 2020. Could come as a plug-in hybrid.

ŠKODA's largest SUV , the Kodiaq , has been in the program since 2017 and should therefore receive a facelift on a regular basis in 2020 . The optical changes are probably limited. The grill should grow and be equipped with new, three-dimensional struts. The air intake underneath the facelift is also likely to be slightly larger than before.

The headlights should get a new inner life - maybe the facelift is even available with matrix LEDs . As with the smaller Kamiq SUV, the new taillights are likely to be equipped with wipers.

The big innovations are likely to be of a technical nature. The renewed Kodiaq will probably get the infotainment from Skoda's flagship Superb with an optional digital cockpit. There are three variants of this infotainment. The top version comes with a 9.2-inch touchscreen, masters gesture and voice control , has a DVD player and an integrated hard drive as well as its own SIM card with data volume. Then special apps for weather or news can be downloaded directly from Skoda's own online shop, software updates are installed wirelessly.

Kodiaq will also have a plug-in hybrid in its range. The Superb technology could also be used here. Then the SUV would get a 1.4-liter TSI plus an electric motor. The system performance is 218 HP and 400 Nm . The 13-kWh battery in the vehicle floor is sufficient for the sedan for 55 purely electrical kilometers.

The entry price will probably rise slightly with the facelift, but will remain below the 30,000 euro mark.

Won't this 1.4 litre engine be too underwhelming for a 1.9 ton SUV, the additional impetus that would be derived from the electric motor not withstanding. Just wondering if the axiom " there's no replacement for displacement" should hold true here too

Am I missing anything here?

VAG is moving to the 'standard' 1.4 TSI + 13 Kw motor across their entire D1++ line-up for Skoda (iV range) & VW (GTE range). Generally, reviews are good.

Knowing the Germans, they will not make a hash of it; these PHEVs are crucial in shifting their loyal folks to full electric vehicles by say 2027/8.

What is with the angular bracket kind of protrusion around the fog lamps on all new Skodas? It is seen even in the Vision IN SUV. Wonder if it even affects the pedestrian safety.

2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift new spy photos

cleverly camouflaged prototype hiding the cosmetic changes planned for the 2021 Kodiaq. The headlights and taillights carry stickers with familiar graphics to trick us into believing the clusters haven’t changed at all.

Updated Kodiaq caught on a Czech highway.

On the redesigned bow, noticed mainly the modified graphics of the main headlights, whose diode line is shaped into a kind of arc.
In the back, the author of the photos warns us about the larger roof spoiler and the painted parts under it (until now, Kodiaq had them only in black). Here, too, supposed to expect modified lamp graphics, quite possibly getting rid of a typical "C" signature in a seven-seater SUV.

have to wait for more detailed information about the rejuvenated Kodiaq, including plans with the RS version, whose powerful turbodiesel has already disappeared from the menu
