Re: 11th-gen Honda Civic patent images leaked

The side profile of the patent Honda Civic seems to have some inspiration drawn from the BMW GT, especially the straight long hood and the fastback like rear.

But IMO, the patent model looks too boring with the same styling seen in the Amaze, City and the Accord. It was welcomed in the Amaze and looked quite MEH in the City and does induce a yawn when I see it in the Civic.
I mean there is nothing ‘Honda Civic’ about it.

So, let’s just hope Honda that does groom it properly and bring out the best it can, otherwise it’ll surely be a step down from the current generation and two steps from the 2006-2011 generation Civic’s.

Re: 11th-gen Honda Civic patent images leaked

I frankly like this new design a lot. They seemed to have toned down the loud, almost garish elements to give a more subtle and mature stance to the car. I absolutely hate the current Civic's design which seems like a hotch-potch of different elements screaming for attention on the road

Re: 11th-gen Honda Civic patent images leaked

As a owner of the current 10th Gen I will tell you that heads still turn to check out the car.

Most importantly after I park I still turn around and admire the car. Yes its a looker.

Of course the 1.8 NA engine + CVT combo is not the best. But that's something i'm ok living with.

To my eye the 11th gen images still show the coupe like look at the rear. Overall it looks to be the love child of the 10th Gen Civic and a BMW GT

Re: 11th-gen Honda Civic patent images leaked

While I was watching the American reviews of the 10th Gen civic, I remember one of the reviewers talk about how the 8th gen was a striking looking Beauty, while it's successor lost all of it's charm in favour of looking bland and appeal to more people. I see the same story repeat here; while the current gen looks eye catchy and attractive, this new one feels basic and ordinary, at least from the original design standpoint.

Re: 11th-gen Honda Civic patent images leaked

Will Honda bring back the rectangular headlamps style like in this 02' Accord? I always liked them. On another note, I'm not a big fan of the front overhang when viewed from the side. It looks like its got bent under it's own weight.

Re: 11th-gen Honda Civic patent images leaked

Sweet . Looks so much cleaner. I find Honda's latest designs to be extremely busy & quirky, but this 11th-gen Civic is a throwback to the old Honda days. Just hope the build quality & engine choices also are top-class as they used to be.

What stands out is the sheer size in the side profile. But then, the Civic has grown - the current gen is as big as yesteryear Accords!

Re: 11th-gen Honda Civic patent images leaked

I find the overhangs on both the front and rear seem excessively long! This could be a deal breaker with our unscientific road bumps.
Design wise, I personally like the existing one much better with its agressive front and we'll sculpted rear. The new one seems to be a blown up City.

Re: 11th-gen Honda Civic patent images leaked

Civic was always about sporty design language to be complimented with a similar driving dynamics.

When I had an opportunity to buy a used car at Saudi couple of years back, I had options to pick up Civic and a Accord at a similar price range; I eventually went with the civic with served me well for 2 years.

Now this 11th gen proposal although good, kills that sporty design language and looks more of a executive sedan.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

Gen 11 Civic spied again:

Quote:
Everything about the new Civic feels more subdued than on the current-generation model, however, it’s not a complete rework of the previous design. Instead, it looks tidier, like the larger Honda Accord.
Quote:
Next week’s reveal won’t show the full next-generation Honda Civic. Instead, will see a prototype of the model. That means official details, such as powertrain specs, are likely to come later this year or in early 2021.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

Some launches do not excite me much - Civic is one of them! Not that I do not like it, have driven it extensively and enjoyed every bit of it back in 2012.

First, not sure it will make it to India.
Second, even if it does, we may get the same 1.8 NA iVtec. And then one needs to shell out Rs. 2 M to buy it when competition offers the latest at similar price point.

So, what's the point?
