Technology And Safety:

The central touchscreen inside of the Honda Civic grows from 7.0 inches in the current model to a more robust 9.0 inches here in the prototype. The new interior design also sees the larger screen move to the top of the dash, iPad-style, rather than embedded within it. The Civic is also the first Honda product to offer a completely digital instrument cluster.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

Wow the new Civic looks much sober now, but I like it. It will probably come in Hybrid option as well I guess. Wonder if it will come to our shores maybe in 2022/23? I hope it comes with a manual transmission.

Honda went radical with the design of the last gen Civic, and it was not pleasing at all, especially in the Type R variant.

This looks much more elegant and sedan-like, especially in profile. Hope they bring out a Type R as well with a more subtle choice of spoilers and skirts. Also I wish Honda has upgraded the ICE to something more intuitive and user-friendly, as in the latest gen Mazdas.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

Mixed feelings.

I love clean, discreete designs. But this is the Civic we are talking about. Should be kinda loud and characterful (?)

Maybe the colour of the display vehicle. The front gives a Dodge vibe, while the rear is kinda anonymous. Generic even. Used to slim rear lights by now, the rear lights now look kinda fat.
Squint, the rear feels like a Tesla!!!

Don't get me wrong. I love the clean styling, except for the C pillar kink taken from the Accord. Yuck.
It's just the naughtiness/yuppiness of the 1980s and the 8th generation is missing.. stylewise

Rest assured, the piece above the grille, will be a thick huge bar of chrome for the Asian markets

Brings us to the Indian market.

A big question mark whether the next gen Civic will make it to our market ?
Will the current power trains being carried over?
Possible.
Will the diesel be phased out, following the Euro market trend?
Personally disappointing, as I like the unloved 1.6l diesel in the Civic from an efficiency point of view.
Best route for Honda?
Bring the turbo petrols for the performance market a la the Octavia RS strategy.
OR

Bring a full blown hybrid version, though have to say. The City hybrid makes more sense for the market. Or just rebadge the Insight.
Anyway rest assured, the current Civic will stay around for 3-4 years in India.

My wish.
Next gen Civic for India having the 1.5l turbo petrol with manual and auto.
The 1.6l diesel, in the 150+bhp CRV tune, coupled with a manual and the 9speeder.

But.maaahnnn..the size of these...guess the strategy of sedan designers is to counter the fatter thicker crossover trend with slender, longer, wider sedans. Can't fight on versatility, fight with desirability

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

Honda is like Microsoft - work in a tick-tock fashion. One gen of a product is radical / new, next gen is meh, then they go back to radical (Windows XP -> Vista (meh) -> Windows 7 -> Windows 8 (meh) -> Windows 10). No dis-respect to anyone but the new gen looks like the Mazda 5, VW Jetta and Toyota Corolla all had an unholy child. Curiously the product manager for the new Civic has come from Mazda.

The 10th gen Civic was a roaring success in the US - the most successful Civic ever with a ~20% market share and cumulative sales of 1.5M+ units.

I'm happy to have locked in on this beauty below.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

This one looks boring. Rather all new Honda designs are coming up as boring, they simply don't have the wow factor anymore. How their accords and cities of yesteryears, and civic until the previous generation had the radical wow factor, now everything from amaze to accord is a similar design. Honda is becoming the toyota of gone years when they were bashed for boring designs. Simply look at their interior in the civic that debuted in India, to the one currently on sale, and now this one.

Same Feeling. Felt more like Honda A8 with half feet smaller boot.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

Thank you Honda for not following the likes of Hyundai, Toyota, BMW and others by slapping a gigantic grille on the front and causing it new design language.

This is clean and refreshing in this era of grills with cars attached to them.

I love the clean lines and small grill with actual bumper design elements and not massive scoops.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

Unfortunate they decided to turn a sporty sedan meant for the average Joe into an Accord meant for the business suits.
Wonder if it will attract either buyers now.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

I like how it looks ! The hood is too straight and windshield thats not slanted for a Honda. It has a coupe like profile going rearward When seeing it from front to rear, it could actually morph into a station wagon.
Doesn't look anywhere near to A8. Don't care if it comes here. Would drive it when in states anyway and looking forward for that.

I feel the side profile is pretty similar to the current gen or rather facelift 5 series.

While the rear is very Amaze like.

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

Does the side profile look more like a BMW Saloon? The creases and the rear profile all seem to give me 3 series vibes in the side view. Front and perspective is altogether a different matter and I am not sure if I am liking it. For us Civic enthusiasts, the last gen (mine from 2007/08) was and is still the best looking model (based of Acura CSX)

Re: Next-gen Honda Civic spied

How many people think the rear design is just like old Honda city? Going by the pictures the rear headroom and boot looks having limited space. If it doesn’t make it to Indian shores will there be any team-bhp official reviews?
