Genesis, Hyundai's luxury arm, has been having an amazing year so far. They refreshed the brand's identity and design language, they launched their first-ever SUV - the GV80, the all-new G80 sedan made it's debut followed by the G70 sedan that received a nip and tuck to bring it in line with the rest of the line-up.

That sure sounded like a busy year but Genesis has more to show. They just took the wraps off their second SUV, the GV70.

And in my opinion, this looks the best of the bunch. The crest-shaped grille isn't big as some of the other models in the line-up and the quad-lighting signature looks brilliant. Also note the distinct C-pillars and the way the chrome embellishments run across the profile. The interiors look fantastic too with multiple colour choices and the infotainment system laid out across the dash in widescreen format.

There's a Sport variant as well with more aggressive exteriors and a different steering wheel.

I love what Genesis is doing as a brand. They're bold, they're trying to be different and they're definitely turning heads.

The C pillar would have looked fantastic in black. The proportions are excellent. I sat in the GV80 at the Toronto Auto show this year and the interior fit and finish seemed right up there with the Germans and Lexus (almost as good as Lexus). They're building amazing cars right now. But does their brand command that kind of money? Time will tell.

The GV70 will be similar to the GV80 in terms of quality. I hope its just a smaller GV80. The rear 3/4 does resemble the Porsche Macan (that's a good thing).

Like you, I too am a big fan of Genesis & what Hyundai is trying to do with it. Hyundai is thinking long-term and is absolutely fine burning money on it for 10 years. From what I read online (Jalopnik & Reddit), the quality & refinement are up there with the Germans, at significantly lower prices and with far superior reliability. Picking up cars for maintenance / services from customer homes was a brilliant win-win strategy; good for the customer, good for the dealer (save on investing in renovating workshop facilities).

Genesis should learn from all the good Lexus has done, and all the bad Acura has.

GV70 will compete head-on with the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Acura RDX, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, and other compact luxury SUVs.

The face-lifted G70 is coming in the end of 2021 and if Genesis follows the trend where G80 and GV80 share the same engines then the GV70 would come with the engine options of the G70 which are 2.0L Turbo with 252hp and 3.3L V6 with 365hp.

There is slight possibility that they would update it later with the new Kia Stinger's 2.5L turbo with 300hp.

2022 Genesis GV70 Engines confirmed. The GV70 is getting the same two engine options as the GV80: a 300-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four and a 375-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6.

The dropped product mentioned in the link is the G70 which is a Sedan. the GV70 (SUV) is still selling reasonably well amongst the Genesis line-up.
