So now they want to force us to love their designs!

I'am no conservative and i'am all up for different and radical designs but they have to look good too, i mean obviously looks are subjective but usually there is a majority which thinks alike and i don't think a vast majority of people will ever love this new design.

Against popular opinion on this forum i love the current gen 3 series to the core and am even a fan of some of the newer Hyundai designs (Venue, i20, not the Creta though), i also think Nexon looks contemporary from the back and the facelifted version looks properly stunning, but this ugly grill looks hideous, i have no problems with big grills too, Audi and newer Hyundais carry it with grace, it is just this entire design is just ugly.

I don't think these are new grill designs, BMW just went back nearly 70 to 80 years in the time machine! These grill designs are from old classic BMWs.

IMO BMW is being too desperate to sort of stand out, they may have got these designs before their time but the market preference is certainly not in their favour. To me the rear of the iX looks like that of the MG Hector Plus.

It is all a matter of perspective. A car is most importantly associated with motion. Judging the styling of a stationary car purely from the pics or videos is one thing and making an opinion after looking at the car on road, both moving and stationary, from different angles is quite another. To give credit to them, stylists go to the levels where they even think about how a person will perceive their design, even if he sees the car zipping by through the corner of his eyes. They actually define form factors, lines, colours etc. in the styling based on such minute things. The results of going bold on the part of BMW designers may look ugly now, but maybe, just maybe, the design language will grow over us and will be new classic style for the future generations. Plus, there is not much of a point in discussing how aggressive BMW's marketing campaign is. It's these guys' job to grab eyeballs for their product. For them, any publicity is good publicity, especially when they know the they can rely on solid engineering and tech on their cars to do the bulk of selling for them.

The comments are hilarious. Gist below:

- The new BMW iX SUV calls the 12 cylinder 7 series junk. Makes fun of the engine, the technology and then the 7 series calls the BMW features as BS literal word BS on a marketing public ad for all ages. The 7 series then tries to login online and crashes!!!
- The iX goes on and on about ambient mood lighting, gesture control, sensing control and what not. Nothing about how a BMW is supposed to drive.

Seriously. Like one of the comments said.

There are classy ways to do advertisement, and cheeky ways too.
This is neither.

This looks like a spat between an ex-girlfriend and a new one, with every opportunity taken to diss the former.
And the last part of the advert laughable, "Oh I didn't want to hurt your feelings. Am sorry....C'mon, let's talk about you old days and our feeeelinggss"


edit: BMW is taking the 'any publicity is good publicity' too far. Nothing works much with hate and divide.
