Re: Porsche 911: Which is your favourite generation?

As a kid, teenager and an adult, I dream of owning one of the 911 masterpieces. I dont know if I ever will be able to afford one, but my favourite ha always been the Carrera RS-964.

Voted for the 991 911 although my love affair for 911s started with the 997, it wasn't until i drove a 991 Carrera S that i truly understood & appreciated the beauty of 911s & porsche DNA.

Cant vote, but if I could, I'd happily vote for 996.
The most distinctive 911 to me.
This was the car that started the GT3 variant.

Ofcourse the purists hate it because the headlights are not round enough for them.
Its not just the runny-egg headlights, and it's not just the purists who take issue with the 996.

Its also the catastrophic IMS bearing failures on all models except the Turbo, and probably the worst interiors ever when it came quality, fit and finish. Even Porsche fanboys will grudgingly admit that the 996 wasn't Porsche's finest moment.

Re: Porsche 911: Which is your favourite generation?

Special moment today as I took the delivery of my 997.2 Base Carrera. Drive back home was an exhilarating experience. Ownership thread on the way.

The place where I stay doesn’t have high octane fuel.

Any expert opinion about using regular unleaded fuel vs octane booster like Proctane Evo?

Congratulations! You’re now the 4th Porsche owner on the forum! How much was she for, if you don’t mind me asking? And which dealer did you purchase it from?

Re: Porsche 911: Which is your favourite generation?

I've had a few Porsches (My TBHP profile pic has one of them), but and am now settled with the Cayenne Sport (Dubai plates). My boss at Young & Rubicam was a huge aficionado and he put this 'keeda' in me. It's minimalism at it's most perfect. The ads from Doyle Dane Bernbach piqued my curiosity further and cemented this relationship. My pick today would be the 992. The Marquee has been perfecting the formula for ages now, and it's the best iteration yet. Sadly, I'm not a sports car fanatic anymore. Been there and done that.

Ditto.
There's a purity of purpose when it comes to the design and engineering of the 964s that, in my opinion, has gone away a little bit.
The 911 is still my dream car - I'd take a new 992 over anything from Ferrari any day of the week, but the 964 is my favorite.
