2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS facelift revealed

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2021 CLS facelift. The car receives a number of cosmetic changes and revisions all around, giving the four-door coupe a more modern appeal.

Some of these updates include an updated front grille, a slightly tweaked set of LED headlamps, newly-designed 19-inch alloy wheels (with 20-inch wheels offered as an option), and subtle revisions to the LED tail lights.

The front bumper has also been updated, now featuring chrome-finished splitters, while the rear bumper comes with a blacked-out diffuser. The car is also available in a new colour scheme, called Spectral Blue Metallic.

Mercedes-Benz has introduced a strictly limited-edition AMG version of the new CLS as well. The performance-oriented variant comes in the form of the Mercedes-AMG CLS 53. The brand has confirmed that only 300 units of the AMG variant will be available worldwide.

The Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 is further offered with a few exclusive elements. These include a set of blacked-out five-spoke alloy wheels, along with redesigned AMG grille and bumpers.

The AMG variant also comes with a Night Package, which offers black window surrounds, and darkened chrome finish on the front grille and rear badging. The CLS 53 AMG model is also offered in an exclusive White and Grey colour scheme, with added racing stripes.

Similar to the exteriors, the cabin of the new CLS is offered with a host of changes and updates, which include a new steering wheel, leather seats and other features and equipment.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS facelift is available in a range of six variants. The diesel variants get three engine options, starting with the entry-level CLS 220d. This comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit producing 194 BHP / 400Nm.

Then there is the CLS 300d 4MATIC with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine paired with a mild-hybrid system. It produces a total of 265 BHP /550 Nm. The top-spec diesel trim, the CLS 400d 4MATIC is powered by a 3.0-litre, in-line 6-cylinder engine churning out 330 BHP / 700Nm.

The limited-edition Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 variant is also powered by a 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder unit. It produces 435 BHP / 520 Nm. The AMG variant is also said to be capable of sprinting from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

Wish Mercedes would stop teasing and bring the 400d here in any guise.
