Volkswagen Group offered €7.5 billion to sell Lamborghini

Volkswagen Group is said to have received an offer of €7.5 billion for Lamborghini. According to a media report, the offer comes from Quantum Group AG - a Zurich-based holding company.

Quantum Group AG is represented by Rea Stark, Co-Founder, Piech Automotive - another Zurich-based company. Piech Automotive executives include Anton Piech (son of former VW Group Chairman, Ferdinand Piech) and Matthias Muller (ex-Porsche CEO). However, their involvement in the acquisition offer is still unknown.

Reports suggest that Quantum Group AG is looking to acquire not only the Lamborghini name but also the brand's facility at Sant'Agata, Italy and their motorsports division. The offer also includes a five-year supplier agreement with Audi, to allow Lamborghini to continue producing their current model lineup.

The proposed deal also mentions a partnership for sharing of intellectual property and electric vehicle technology. The partnership will also result in the establishment of an Advanced Automotive Innovation Centre in Germany, which will manufacture battery cells and battery packs.

According to reports, Quantum Group AG has big plans for the Italian supercar brand. The company envisions Lamborghini to spearhead innovation by consistently implementing new clean drivetrain technologies. The company will also look to develop new software and autonomous driving technologies, while also researching on 'green' materials, including e-fuels and hydrogen.

In addition to this, the purchase offer also includes job assurances for existing Lamborghini employees for a period of up to five years. It also states that 850 new jobs would be created at the proposed innovation centre in Germany.

However, reports have suggested that the Volkswagen Group has no plans of selling Lamborghini. The Italian supercar brand's day-to-day operations are currently under the control of Audi and it plans to remain that way.

Re: Volkswagen Group offered €7.5 billion to sell Lamborghini

Two cents from my side (literally 2):

First Cent: With the way the Urus has been received, anyone would be interested in Lamborghini. These brands either make no profits, or make fat ones, everyone knows the side where Urus has put the Lamborghini in. So, 7.5 is actually, probably an offer on a lower side, hence VW has openly said "we received an offer, while we are in no mood to sell"

Second Cent: Bugatti is there just to sit as the Kohinoor on the Peacock Throne, called 'the engineering prowess' of VAG. Lamborghini is the crown. These two brands give more marketing push to entire VAG group, than probably the individual marketing budgets of every single brand combined. Owners of even the sister branded vehicles do take a pride in telling others that yes, our car is built by the same company which holds Lamborghini too.

Re: Volkswagen Group offered €7.5 billion to sell Lamborghini

Oh man! It's more complicated than it seems. Porsche is again playing games, at which they failed more than 10 yrs ago, to buy VW even after owning more than 70% of it.

The team of Piech motors is essentially a Porsche team or rather Porsche family (descendents of Ferdinand Porsche).

Due to a German govt law, Porsche can't buy VW (unless the govt agrees), but that can't stop Porsche from buying their crown jewels, as they have more than 50% voting rights in VW.

I can't wait to see as to how the German govt stalls the deal. It's going to be interesting.

Re: Volkswagen Group offered €7.5 billion to sell Lamborghini

Audi Announces It Has No Intentions To Sell Lamborghini.

Quote:
This is not the subject of any discussion within the group," the spokesman said. "Lamborghini is not for sale."
Quote:
Lamborghini has flourished under Volkswagen Group and the Sant'Agata Bolognese is now doing better than ever. Fueled by the immense (and predictable) success of the Urus SUV, the iconic Italian performance brand will remain under Audi's full control as it prepares to embrace an electrified future. Despite reports about receiving an offer valued at $9.2 billion to sell the fabled supercar marque, parent company Audi says Lambo is not switching hands.
