Audi A5 unveiled in 2007 Geneva Motor show

hi TBHPians,

Today Audi A5 is unveiled in Geneva Motor Show. Priced upwards by 30 lakhs. Available in both petrol and Diesel versions.
Designed by VW's Design head Walter da silva.
max speed - 250 KMPH, 455 lt Bootspace
i think BHP is 170 and 190 for petrol and diesel.
expected in India by last quarter of this year.
A5 from 35 lakhs and S5 from 60 lakhs.
lets us see how this 2 door coupe hits the market...

I don't think A5 will make it to India. Two reasons:

1. Car buyers will think it's a rip off. Why pay Rs.35-40 lakhs for a car missing 2 doors when competition gives us 4 doors for lesser money.

2. With the main doors missing, the seth wouldn't know where he is supposed to sit.

By the way, any pictures?

sorry, no pictures since i came to know about this through TV(headlines today).
i think A5 will definitely make it here, to give a head on to BMW etc. but its launch may be delayed. coupes have to wait a bit longer here to eat market share of sedan or SUVs or any.

I would love to own one..35 is a good price and i think it will do well, S5 should do well too..

younger generation well to do ppl wouldnt mind the missing 2 doors...late 20's - early 40s guys i think would be the main target..

An SLK with it's hefty price tag has a waiting list in India. So was the case with CLK. Did somebody complain about the missing doors?
I think A5 will recieve a warm welcome here.

The design looks a bit too American to me. Not to my taste.

Thats definitely really low. I checked out on VWVORTEX and they say that it has the following

Audi A5 - 1.8 turbo to 3.2 litre v6 and also a diesel option (170bhp to 265bhp). the 265 bhp is obviously generated by the 3.2 litre v6.

Audi S5 - has the same 4 litre V-8 as the audi r-8 and puts out a good 354 bhp @ 7000rpm ....mated to a 6-speed manual.

I cant wait for the RS5..that would be kick ***..with probably like 420-450hp it would be an M3 beater and would do well too..

Audi is launching a ton of cars , A7(CLS comp), S7, RS7 then R4(smaller R8), R8S, R4S, Q5, A1, audi is on a roll..

I guess the RS4 is as quick as the M3 (the new one with the V8)...I wonder what the RS5 will compete against? Or probably a car on its own ...or prolly compete against the m5/m6??

I think the RS5 will be M3 Coupe's competition and M3 Sedan would be RS4 competition, RS5 could sit somewhere in between an M3 Coupe and M6 but i think it will be more of M3 competition, price point wise, Audi's have always been a tad more expensive, so you could expect it in the 70,000$ range where as M3 should be in the 63-65000$ range..either way..its good to see some cool cars out there, competition always helps..but unfortunately germans keep increasing their price by quite a bit every generation change which is a bummer..

Dude it seems the M3 is going to be close to 70K USD too. What do you think about price against power? isn't that a bit too much?
