Ferrari has its first-ever Fashion Show

Italian supercar brand, Ferrari recently held its first-ever fashion show, debuting its new clothing collection. Ferrari introduced a long line of ready-to-wear clothing collection via the fashion show, held at the brand's supercar assembly line in Maranello, Italy.

The clothing collection from Ferrari is said to have been designed by Rocco Iannone, previously with premium brands like Armani and Dolce & Gabanna. The design of the clothing line, however, is completely different and is said to have no connection to the brand's automobile division.

Apart from the new clothing collection, Ferrari is also said to have unveiled the first of many clothing stores. These stores will feature the brand's entire collection, along with other Ferrari items, including sneakers and sunglasses in collaboration with Puma and Ray-Ban, respectively.

Reports also suggest that Ferrari will now design all its merchandise in-house, making it more premium and upmarket. The company has shut down at least half of its licencing deals, apart from a few partnerships including Puma, Ray-Ban and Richard Mille - which will be supervised by Rocco Iannone.

Earlier this month, Ferrari also re-opened 'Cavallino', a restaurant located just opposite the brand's factory. The place was once said to be the official staff cafeteria. It was also the unofficial headquarters of the company founder, Enzo Ferrari.

Ferrari is suddenly interested in diversification ? Maybe it wants to pull a harley davidson and make revenue on merchandise. They have a strong brand so they can pull this off if they put some effort into it. Thay did make the F50 boots

Problem statement:
The design of the clothing line, however, is completely different and is said to have no connection to the brand's automobile division. And it shows.

There. I corrected it.

Meh.

Re: Ferrari has its first-ever Fashion Show

The so called 90's fashion style is what most luxury designer brands are putting out today and Ferrari has followed it. If one were to look at the celebrities and what they wear today, it is mainly clothes and footwear that resembles fashion from the late 80's all the way to the late 90's. Even those old thin sunglasses are sported by them. In India, our own Ranveer Singh has spearheaded such wardrobe choices.

Luxury brands cater to a completely different breed. Not only do their items cost a fortune, but also look something the homeless would wear ! Check out this recent viral video where a daughter purchased an expensive Gucci belt and her mother's reaction to it

Re: Ferrari has its first-ever Fashion Show

Seems to be aimed more at Instagram Influencers and their followers who want to look rich but can't afford actual Ferrari's.

I'm all for leveraging your powerful brand in different ways to make money, but at least they could have gone for some classy outfits rather than these kind of mish-mash clothing that no one wears in real life and only seen on Instagram.

Re: Ferrari has its first-ever Fashion Show

I think this is more to make a statement and a brand exercise than anything else. Plus, a high-end fashion show is a great way to stylishly engage with your owners, both existing & potential. Many luxury brands sponsor fashion shows in India for the same reason.

That being said, Ferrari makes a ton of money outside of car sales too. From their annual report (sponsorship includes F1):

Re: Ferrari has its first-ever Fashion Show

The real question to be asked is, is it tutto fatto a mano (hand made by Italian tailors), or is it Italian designed and made in China?

I'd be more than happy to drive Italian cars and it doesn't get any better than a Ferrari or Maserati, but as far as clothing goes, I'd trust Canali, Corneliani, E Zegna and Bottega Veneta that are truly tutto fatto a mano.

For Italian watches, it doesn't get any better than Panerai.
