Re: A 1995 McLaren F1 with just 400 km on the odometer is up for auction!

Regardless of whatever Mclaren build anymore, they can never top the F1. The recent examples - P1, Speedtail, Senna etc dont even come close to the legendary status of the F1. To me, the Mclaren F1 comes a close second to the Ferrari F40 in the "Greatest Supercar ever made" conversation.

This thing might come close to setting a record price at the auction.

Re: A 1995 McLaren F1 with just 400 km on the odometer is up for auction!

Vintage wine that's never meant to be drunk, art that remains in storage out of sight, first edition novels and comic books that are never taken out of their protective coverings to be read...and now supercars that are never driven.

Obviously I'll never get to that station in life where I can even dream of owning any of these, but I wonder what the whole point is. Appreciation of an investment I guess, if not being able to appreciate using the product. And I'm sure the returns are more than handsome.

Again, this must be an ignorant question- but if the tyres are the original ones, and I'm sure they have been stored immaculately but still, after all these decades wouldn't the rubber have deteriorated by now?

Finally a worthy replacement for my aging vento. The only question I have before I take out the cheque book is about the mileage? Kitna deti hai?

Beautiful machine, but just 400kms. This beauty deserves to be driven a little.

Everything about this car is special and will remain so including a specific Compaq laptop model that is needed to perform maintenance duties. McLaren reportedly spends thousands of $$$ on these obsolete laptops just so they can maintain F1s.

Quote:
“The reason we need those specific Compaq laptops is that they run a bespoke CA card which installs into them,” a fellow from MSO told me. “The CA card is an interface between the laptop software (which is DOS based) and the car.”
The article is from 2016, may be they found out a way to replace these dinosaurs in last 5 years:

Quote:
He added: “We are currently working on a new interface which will be compatible with modern laptops as they old Compaqs are getting less and less reliable and harder to find.”
Quote:
For now, a 20-year-old Compaq is the key to servicing one of the world's fastest production cars. If you're interested in buying the F1 that McLaren is selling, you won't be able to plug in any old laptop and disable any of those annoying dash warnings. That's probably the least of your worries when the supercar will likely sell for more than $10 million.

Although not a Mclaren, Gordon’s t50 is headed in the same direction in due course. An absolute pinnacle of engineering, especially that NA screamer of a V12

Gorgeous car and of course technical perfection is the name of the game here.

Very unusual colour, but it really suits this car I think! Would love to drive one, but that is unlikely to happen. Maybe I should “friend” Rowan or Jay on FB? Or did they sell theirs already? Rowan smashed his up once or twice. My kind of car guy. Ownership is one thing, fiddling with them is great but ultimately this car was made to be driven hard!

Re: A 1995 McLaren F1 with just 400 km on the odometer is up for auction!

1995 McLaren F1 sets new auction price record; sells for over $20 million

Back in June this year, the Gooding & Co auction house had listed a 1995 McLaren F1 supercar for sale. The ultra-rare version of the iconic supercar had only 243-miles on the odometer and came finished in a special 'Creighton Brown' paint scheme.

This pristinely maintained supercar was sold on Friday at Pebble Beach, for a staggering US$ 20,465,000 - making it the most-expensive road-going McLaren F1 to date.

The previous record amount for a stock McLaren F1 stood at US$ 15.62 million, back in 2017. Although, there was also a street-legal McLaren F1 that was converted to LM specifications which sold for US$ 19.8 million in 2019.

As mentioned before, the 1995 McLaren F1 supercar is the only model to feature the 'Creighton Brown' paint scheme, combined with a Light Tan & Dark Brown leather upholstery.

The car comes with all the original parts and accessories. This includes a FACOM tool chest, titanium toolkit, custom luggage set, original owner's manual and service book and a special Tag Heuer watch.

With an odometer reading of under 400 km, the car is also one of the lowest mileage F1's in the world. It also comes with the original factory-fitted Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.

The McLaren F1 was limited to just 106 units and was designed by Gordon Murray. The iconic three-seater supercar came powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.1-litre V12 producing 618 BHP and 650 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

This car reminded me of the game NFS 2. It was a breeze to dust opponents with this car.

Getting an F1 at today’s date with just 400 kms on the odo is simply a dream come true situation! There are so many iconic cars, but no other car can beat F1’s character!
