Volvo Cars have announced its global sales figures for the first six months of 2021. The Swedish carmaker is said to have registered its strongest first-half sales this year, with 3,80,757 units sold globally. The month of June alone registered an 11 per cent growth with 68,224 units of sales.

The increase in global sales is said to have been driven by rising demand in markets like China, the USA and Europe, each of which is said to have registered double-digit growth compared to the same period last year.

Re: Volvo Cars report best-ever first half-year sales in 2021

Volvo truly does have a good looking model line-up in India. With their Hybrids coming in, I am sure they will register good growth in the Indian market. Also, I am starting to see a lot of Volvos in Tier 2 cities where people earlier preferred only BMW, Mercedes or Audi. If this trend continues for the next 2 years, then I am sure Volvo will be able to sell 1500 odd cars every month.

Volvo reports record revenues and profitability in 2021. Brand nudges 700,000 global sales in spite of supply chain crisis, with XC60 accounting for over a third.

The company sold 698,693 cars in 2021, a 5.6% volume increase on the 661,713 it sold in 2020.

The most popular was the mid-sized XC60 SUV, of which the company sold 215,635 units, followed closely by the smaller XC40, with 201,037 sales, and the XC90 flagship in third place with 108,231 sold.

Quote:
Volumes of its traditional saloon and estate cars continue to be significantly smaller, S60 and S90 accounting for slightly less than 100,000 units combined, and the V60 and V90 estates accounting for 76,600 units altogether.
Quote:
Year-on-year, output was down 20% in the final quarter, but with 34% of the brand’s global sales made up of its electrified Recharge cars (28% plug-in hybrids and 6% pure-EVs)
Quote:
The company recorded revenues of SEK 282bn (£22.35bn) in 2021, up from SEK 262.8 (20.84bn) in 2020 – with operating income soaring by SEK 11.8bn (£0.94bn) year-on-year.
