New Kia Carnival 4-seater Limousine variant revealed for South Korean market

Kia has unveiled a new range-topping variant for its fourth-generation Carnival MPV, called the Limousine Hi-Trim. The new variant has been launched in its home market (South Korea) and comes with a 4-seater configuration.

The Carnival Limousine Hi-Trim variant has a length of 5,200 mm (85 mm more than the standard 11-seater variant) and an elevated roof, which makes it taller by 305 mm.

On the inside, the driver and front passenger space remain unchanged. However, the Limousine Hi-Trim variant features two limousine-style individual seats in the middle row. The seats are wrapped in Nappa leather upholstery. The seats are also offered with a dedicated leg rest and table.

Other features at the rear include a 21.5-inch entertainment screen mounted on the ceiling. The screen is controlled by another 7-inch tablet, integrated in the centre console at the rear. It also comes with sun blinds, foot massagers, LED ambient lighting, a heated / cooled storage unit and wireless charging.

Kia is also said to have tweaked the suspension on the Carnival Limousine Hi-Trim to offer a more plush ride for the rear seat occupants. The new range-topping variant, however, continues to be powered by the same powertrain options as the other variants. These include a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine producing 290 BHP & 355 NM and a 2.2-litre diesel unit churning out 199 BHP & 441 Nm. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Nice to see the raised roof version of the limo Carnival. Just look at that wood floor and rich appointments. This is a good space to be in during peak traffic hours when chauffeured around I do have reservations about the raised roof when viewed externally, but this market is picking up pace. The sales of the Vellfire and the current Carnival is a testament to the fact that there is demand for such vehicles. The dimensions although a bit bigger compared to your everyday car, will still be manageable by the driver.

For a car of this size, why can't they give a completely reclining + fully stretched seat that can make the 2nd row like a bed? Even Toyota Innova is able to achieve that to a great extent, although a combination of 1st and 2nd row.

This surely looks like a great offering but more for commercial segment than personal ones. Good thing they are integrating roof mounting thule-box as standard to make up for the lost boot space, something other 3 row MPV makers should also consider offering. This standard roof integrated thule will help avoid customers from facing harassment by authorities on ground of non-standard modification unless there are tax implications for increased height.

The primary reason being Safety, especially when there are measurable metrics as published like NCAP exists. That is the reason even Toyota does not advertise the 1st and 2nd row adding up to a similar semi-reclined bed.

Have been reading positive things about this new-gen Carnival. Kia had better bring it here fast. The current Carnival of India (being phased out worldwide) is by itself so darn good, I can only imagine what this next-gen car will be like. Have recommended a ton of them to people who call me for advice and all of them are super happy. A true luxury MPV .

Everything looks great.

Except for the ground clearance, which looks un-improved from the current generation.

As per some reports, the current gen Carnival scrapes it's belly on full load, over tall speed bumps.
KIA should have addressed this in the New Gen.

An increase in ground clearance would improve the stance as well.
