Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X vs. Subaru Impreza WRX STI

this is a amazing report on the two new cars

At the heart of the Evo X is an all-new aluminum 2.0-liter inline-4, codenamed 4B11. This powerplant features MIVEC (Mitsubishi's variable valve technology), four valves per cylinder and a big turbocharger. Recent estimates put output at roughly 300 bhp peaking at about 7000 rpm and 325 lb.-ft. of torque coming at a low 3000, both noticeable increases from the Evo IX. Also, this new 4-banger is lighter than the previous engine by about 50 lb.

underneath the hood scoop is the same turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-4 of the past model. JDM (Japan domestic model) STIs will be powered by a 2.0-liter flat-4 for World Rally homologation reasons. The output of the 2.0-liter flat-4 is rumored to be at 300 bhp, which means our 2.5-liter version should pump out about 320. Torque will be around 320 lb.-ft. at 4000 rpm. The slight boost in power, coupled with the fact that the car will be about 50 lb. lighter, will make the next WRX STI just as quick as, if not quicker than, the Evo X.

I currently own a IX MR in Newjersey. Even though the website lists the cost at $35k, the dealers in the East Coast Markup the price to $40-42k. I picked mine at $40k. In the West Coast, the dealers sell it in the range of $33-35K.

But most evo owners are waiting for the X to debut sooner. I am waiting...

the evo has become even sexier looking while subaru totally destroyed the look of their impreza.
you can get an evo for anywhere close to 20 lacs all around the world.

I totally disagree with you. I think the Impreza looks SO much better than the old one, esp. the new headlights.

Silly question: The pic shows a hatchback of the Subaru. What's the difference between that and the sedan? (KINDLY no wisecracks about the difference is that the boot's missing in the hatch ). Are they selling both side by side, or is it that they phasing out the sedan version?

What the hell is wrong with Subaru. its design department is taking the world on a rollercoster ride. too many ups and downs. (not really required)

i think this the only body design so far...no sedan or wagon versions yet.

I never thought i'd say this but i like the evo more than the wrx!!! (especially because of the looks)

an Sti is not complete without a monstrous rear wing!!!

Is it just me or does the front end of the new Impreza look like the Chevy SR-V?

I agree with a lot of you. That subaru sucks atleast the front-grill sucks so bad. However i'm a sucker for hatchbacks especially its 300~bhp i'm gonna buy that. Moreover the Subaru's got 2.5 litres as opposed to Evo's 2.0Litre so the subie's go easy on the turbo's and i don't like the Mitsubishi dealers in the mid-west i've heard a lot of bad stories about them. Maybe the New Jersey guy can share some of his experiences (if i'm wrong or right?)
