Next-gen Toyota Land Cruiser waiting time extends to four years.

Due to the chip shortage LandCruiser 300 Series is the worst effected, with its Japanese production facility shuttered for an entire month.

Toyota in Japan has been overwhelmed by initial interest in the new LC300, with pre-orders out-stripping domestic production capacity by 400 per cent.

Japanese dealers are now suggesting wait times could stretch as long as four years for the ZX and GR Sport trims.

According to a media report, the waiting period for the new (2022) Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series SUV could extend up to 4 years.

The extended waiting period is said to be a result of the 40% reduction in production capacity, forced by the global chip shortage. Reports also suggested that the production of the Land Cruiser 300 Series is the worst affected, as its production facility will remain closed for an entire month.



The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series was unveiled globally earlier this year. Pre-bookings for the LC300 opened on 2 August 2021, and since then, Toyota is said to have received an overwhelming response. The company is already said to have garnered over 20,000 orders for the flagship SUV, with 90 per cent of these bookings are for the 'ZX' and 'GR Sport' trims.



Reports suggest that while the waiting period of some variants will be 2 to 3 years, customers who have booked the ZX and GR Sport, could end up waiting for the longest; with an expected period of up to 4 years.

I can understand a year of waiting, but who will wait for 4 years!!

Most people will forget that they have a booking. It cracks me up when I think of a phone call 4 years later saying a vehicle has been assigned.

4 years?!! Most people are open to waiting upto 1 year, If the product has a significant edge over the others. But 4 years??? Cmon. The resale price for the Landcruiser 300 is going to go absolutely bonkers

In current time it is true, but back in 1980s people were ready to wait for a decade

This chip shortage has increased the prices of many electronic items like Graphics card, processors (in 2014 i7 used to cost around 20K and now it is 40K), TVs

It's not uncommon to wait for extended time, like 2 Years for a G-Wagon in certain countries like Canada. There were some talks about launch of LC 300 in India in next financial Year, I guess now, everything will be pushed back.

On a positive note, I can ask for even higher prices of my LC200

After 4 years, along with the Land Cruiser Toyota should give a free Engineering Degree of customer's choice!

But seriously, the wait speaks about the solid image of the Land Cruiser. I have once travelled in it and the feeling was no less than flying! This is one car that you should have in your list of cars to buy once in lifetime.

Most of these vehicles outlive the owner , it’s for a reason that you see T badge vehicles in war torn difficult terrains. Four years is nothing for something that remains indestructible (except in NCR where Diesels have short life)
