Volkswagen GTI W12 concept

Volkswagen today revealed the GTI W12 concept — an ultra-high-performance version of its popular GTI hatchback. Featuring a 12-cylinder, 6.0 liter motor, the GTI W12 can hit 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

Delivering 650 horsepower and 553 pound feet of torque, this GTI uses the same powerplant found in the Bentley Continental, Audi A8, Volkswagen Phaeton, and Touareg. The engine is based on two narrow-angle VR6 engines joined at the crank.
The car features extensive body modifications for increased aerodynamics and rides on 19-inch wheels. Volkswagen says the GTI W12 can hit a top speed of 202 mph. "This GTI moved the wing inward," explains Klaus Bischoff. "The roof is part of an enormous diffuser, which provides sufficient down force on the rear axle. It is made of carbon fiber and forces air over and under the tail spoiler to obtain a perfect amount of pressure on the rear axle."
The purpose of this design study is not known, and production seems unlikely.

Sounds good.. But again.. The same thing..These cars are built to showcase in one of the motor shows to show what the company is capable of.. They will never be sold as actual production cars..

vette/viper/ferrari/porsche are designed to be sport cars, but this one is a car with a really fast engine, just like an SL or CL is, just a car with a big engine..the difference there also is SL and CL are going to be produced, but this car will never see the light of day..show your capability but show it on a machine that can have hope of production..that isnt too much too ask for..and either way you couldnt be comparing a golf to a sports car..for that matter even an SL or CL

Maybe they'll use this bodykit somewhere. It's pretty sweet.

Is the engine even front-mounted? Or is it like that Renault or whatever, with a mid mount and only 2 seats?

The back of this car, especially the back bumper is really really nice, but i dont like the side vents, too big for this shape, without them the car might looker beefier

Now if this take this theme and apply it to S3... that would soo cool...

How are you able to make out? I can't even see rear seats. Though I do see huge rear scoops before the wheels, and a really wide rear track.

Sorry.. Looks like i am really sleepy now and need some well needed rest.. Here found this on another site..

"The concept puts out 650 horsepower and 530 lb. ft of torque from a 6.0L biturbo W12 engine that is mounted behind the front seats. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels. "

Taken from VW Golf GTI W12 650 Concept...The Ultimate GTI Has a Top Speed of 201 mph! (The Torque Report)
