3.7 seconds, 201 mph, 554 lb-ft

Its 6.0-liter Biturbo engine is longitudinal and placed directly behind the driver and the front seat passenger. The GTI W12 650 differentiate itself in this way from the classical central engine car. A 6-speed automatic transmission transfers 554 lb-ft to the rear axle. It catapults the GTI W12 650 to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds. With a top speed of 201 mph the GTI W12 650 leaves behind nearly all of the world's supercars.

never heard of such a thing....any car in the world can be re-designed to handle stupid amounts of power....more so this car, if you look at it closely, is very similar to the Group B rally cars of the 80s: take a hatchback shell and stick a 500 hp plus engine in the back.

Now I dont know if you know this, but the Group B was banned for being too fast, and Gerhard Berger even drove one of these and said it could be faster than his F1 car on a circuit. the acceleration of the quattro S1 was sub-3 seconds on gravel....with lateral g's exceeding 1.4g, again on gravel.

Another important reason that actually triggered the ban was the death of a world champion rally driver (I think it was Hannu Mikkola in the Lancia, though could be wrong) in one of the rallies.

The engine is mid-mounted guys. The rear seats no longer exist. Its more like the previous generation Renaul Clio that pumped out 300bhp remember?

btw godfather that fact you gave about the 650bhp etc. doesn't talk about where the engines mounted.

Engine's mounted in back seat of the GTI buddy...check this link out

i dont think it has the same chassis. definitely re-inforced. That cars rear stands 6 feet wide and has a 2 3/4 feet wheel wells.

Volkswagen GTI W12-650

this IS A sports car, just that it looks like a GTI.
and much better than sportscars

You're talking about the Renault Clio V6 version. The first model pumped out 230bhp from its 3.0 litre V6 engine whereas the second gen churned out 255 bhp. No 300bhp version was ever launched.

Here are some more examples of similar maddness - Resulting in the obvious - DEATH and the end of the infamous Group B class.

Group Therapy

They all have one thing in common - AN OVERPOWERED ENGINE IN A LIGHT CAR

but keep in mind that these were all amazing machines.

The Lancia Stratos is missing in this article
