Consumer Report from which country?

Hey GTO,
Which survey?
Top Gear's survey is here: http://www.topgear.com/content/featu...urvey_2003/01/

This is consumer reports - USA

Also, the list contains Acura, which is sold only in the US and neighbouring regions.

GTO

thats wonderful. 8 Jap cars in the US.

Haah!!! LX430..S did regain its top spot this year..according to another magazine i read..
Focus..god they have to be kidding me
forester..wow i hardly get to see them on the road here
prius..ok not much competition there..but still gotta be the ugliest car on earth..beating DC designs..

But I would have to agree with RX330, TL, Accord/Pasat, Siena and all but even pilot a lovely car..but still there are better options in my opinion..

half the time you shouldnt be even trusting these magazines cuz they just print for the sake of printing..

anyhow..

very few people actually go through the consumer report to buy a car..and if i were picking in any of these categories i wouldnt pick more than 3 of the cars they mentioned..

In another magazine i read for the TL category..G35 was a better buy then was 330 and then TL...so it just depends which group of ppl you select to survey..

L8r

Hey C4S,
Where in the US are you?
Its also very regional as to which cars you see on the road......you say you havent seen any foresters...but i see tons...which is because of the new england weather!...i can only assume u live in cali ? ;-]
(however i dont believe in these surveys either)

You kidding me? The Consumer Reports is one of the most reverred publications, since it is based on the opinions of the end users - Hence Consumer Reports. Even the sales figures and subscriptions of this magazine are phenomenal!

The Prius was never meant to be an ordinary looking Toyota. It is made by Toyota to make a statement. The Prius is a technological breakthrough...its the future. Toyota intentionally designed the Prius (and honda the insight) toward a distinctive identity.

Did you know that Toyota actually incurs a loss on every Prius that it sells?

GTO

Consumer reports and JD Power are the most respected names when it comes to buying cars, at least in the US. Like someone posted, they echo customer views and nobody is a better critic of a car more than the customer himself. Besides surveys, they also test cars that they buy, and these tests are very very detailed. Go through teir website for more details(subscription). I have noticeed that the test results produced by CR and JDP have been highly consistent. *

Wrong. A large number of people (including myself) refer to CR while buying not only cars, but other products as well - cameras, computers, speakers, receivers, household goods, etc. What is very important here is how these cars are evaluated based on facts, figures and trends - unlike the opinions listed by the editors of car and driver, edmunds, and other auto mags. Besides, auto manufacturers consider these ratings as an ultimate verdict for their products.
Subaru Foresters and Outbacks are found in plenty in the New York region, as is the Prius.
