Ford has released a teaser of the next-generation Ranger pick-up truck for the international market. The teaser also reveals the unveil date of the next-gen Ford Ranger, which has been scheduled for 24th November 2021.



The teaser doesn’t reveal much, apart from the C-shaped LED DRLs flanking a large front grille with the Ford logo at its centre and a sculpted bonnet. The new-gen Ford Ranger is said to be based on the updated T6 body-on-frame platform which debuted on the Bronco.

The new platform is said to give the new Ranger pick-up truck a slightly larger footprint while also offering the chance to support hybrid powertrains. The new-gen Ford Ranger will be available in multiple body styles and variants, and the high-performance Raptor is also said to be in the works.

On the inside, the new-gen Ford Ranger will get all the bells and whistles including a large central touchscreen infotainment unit with connected tech, a fully-digital instrument cluster and plenty of other equipment to boast.

The new-gen Ford Ranger is said to share its powertrains with the Bronco and also form the basis for the next-generation Endeavour SUV (Everest in international markets).

The Raptor inspired front profile looks amazing! It will have terrific road presence for sure. But sadly, Ford has shut operations in India so this or the next gen Endeavour probably won't make it to our shores.

Couldn't Ford bring the new Everest / Endeavour as a CBU? It could sell in decent numbers if they price it right.

They could but it is going to be way too expensive.

How is this relevant to India as Ford has already shut down? When they couldn't sell Indian made cars, how will they sell them as CBUs?

With such thinking and decision making, I'm sure Ford will one day cease to exist as a car maker.

Any news related to cars is relevant to this forum, doesn’t matter it’s about India or abroad. Ford ceasing manufacturing in India is a setback for the automobile industry in India and the loss is ours only.

As for the thinking and decision making part, Ford Ranger is one of the highest selling model for Ford in their primary market, so I guess they will stay for some time for sure since they are well into the EV ecosystem as well.

GM, Fiat, Harley Davidson too have shut shop in India and I don't think of any setback to the industry. How is Ford different from them? In fact, we have gained from newer entrants like Kia, MG unlike loss making Ford. All such lazy companies with no strategy should exit India so that newer ones can come with fresh ideas.

The Ranger is Australia's best selling 4x4 and comprises for about 60% of total Ford Sales in Australia. It's a BIG thing in the Oz. Here's few pics from an Australian website.

The nee gen is expected to better the previous gen in all aspects, and supposedly come with a V6!

New Gen Ford Ranger revealed.

Engine options:

The current 2.0-litre diesel engine is retained, remaining architecturally the same with only slight modifications for cooling. There will be two single-turbocharged variants and a twin-turbocharged one, the power ratings for which are still to be confirmed.

A new 3.0-litre diesel V6 has been added to the ranks, too, and while it has yet to be officially detailed, it will no doubt tout performance statistics to trump the 210bhp and 367lb ft of torque currently available in today’s most powerful Ranger. A turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine will also be sold in some markets.

Ford has also confirmed that the new Ranger will be available with an electrified drivetrain, although it has offered no further details on specification or timeframe. The company will make its European commercial vehicle line-up zero-emissions-capable by 2024, so a plug-in hybrid is the most likely format for the Ranger, and various reports suggest it will be based around the 2.3-litre Ecoboost engine.

You’ve increased the Ranger’s wheelbase and widened it. How will that impact its performance?

“We started with giving the Ranger a wider track width and [50mm-] longer wheelbase. We brought the front wheels closer to the front of the vehicle, which improves your approach angle, and increased the axle articulation, which allows the Ranger to behave more car-like on the road and more capable off-road. We’ve moved the rear dampers further outboard, which allowed us to tune a more controlled on-road ride. That means customers experience a more consistently comfortable ride.”

Why are you offering both selectable and all-wheel- drive 4x4 systems?

“That part-time shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system is for more traditional enthusiast off-roaders. But we’re now offering an automated four-wheel drive, where it distributes the torque between the front and rear axles smartly and intelligently as the customer demands, whether towing or on grass, gravel or ice and snow. That was driven by what we recognised the customers were after.”

How will the touchscreen and driving modes work for off-roading?

“You don’t have to hunt for a rear differential lock or hill descent control. There’s a single touch button on the console that takes you to everything you need in one place on the screen. There are details of exactly what they do to the vehicle and certain modes will engage the diff lock and certain modes will disengage, so we have that hard button to select the drive modes.”
