Kia is all set to unveil its full-size electric offering, the EV9 SUV. The all-new Kia EV9 will be unveiled on November 11, making it the flagship offering of the brand's EV lineup.



Kia released a teaser of the upcoming EV9 SUV, alongside the unveil date. The teaser showcases a silhouette of the full-size SUV, which bears a resemblance to the brand's Telluride offering.

While details of the electric SUV are scarce, the Kia EV9 is expected to use Hyundai Motor Group's e-GMP architecture, which will also be used by Hyundai's Ioniq 7 (also expected to be unveiled soon). The EV9 will also be offered in multiple powertrain options including two and four-wheel drive configurations.

The Kia EV9 is expected to go on sale in multiple international markets, but whether or not it will come to India is yet to be announced.

Kia has previewed the EV9 Concept with a set of official sketches and a teaser.

Global debut is scheduled for November 17 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The concept will evolve in a production model which is expected to have the largest footprint of any Kia to date, being the equivalent of the ICE-powered Telluride.

Kia has detailed an ambitious pledge to go entirely carbon neutral by 2045, which will see it ditch combustion in Europe by 2035.

Kia EV9 concept revealed at the Los Angeles motor show.

Underpinning the Concept EV9 is the firm’s E-GMP electric car architecture.



The concept car measures 4,930mm in length, 2,055mm width, 1,790mm height and has a wheelbase of 3,100mm.



A solar panel also features on the front ducts to allow extra charge for battery. Retractable roof-rails, which can be raised or lowered at the touch of a button.



Kia’s Tiger Face is now digital, with a full body-colored front with LED lights hiding behind the front facia.



The rear has a triangular shape for the D-pillars, and there are Y-shaped taillights



On the move, the EV9 Concept adopts the traditional seating layout. When not moving, Pause Mode allows the first row and third row to face each other while the second row of seats transforms into a table arrangement.



Described as transformative, the EV9’s interior features a 27-inch ultra-wide display, and a yoke-like steering wheel.



A second stationary mode is named Enjoy Mode. In this mode, all three seat rows swivel towards the back.



Seating fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles and recycled wool fibers. Also, vegan leather was used throughout the interior space.



The concept car can supposedly achieve a range of up to 300 miles. It also incorporates Kia’s next-generation ultra-fast charging technology. The EV9 Concept can recharge from 10 percent to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.



The Concept EV9 is expected to go into production before 2024.

Overall looks interesting concept, those tail lamps look hideous though. Its a concept car and I understand the interiors will be utopian, yet Im curious if there is the slightest possibility if such dashboards and footwells can be reality with EVs. One of the researchers in my circles made an important comment once, 'we are still designing EVs with an ICE Vehicle design mindset and approach' just like early cars were more of horse carriage with engines. I know this statement can be contested.
