2nd-gen Honda WR-V launched in Indonesia (page 4)

Honda has unveiled a new concept SUV at the GIIAS 2021 in Indonesia. Called the RS Concept, the model previews the brand's upcoming mid-size SUV offering.

In terms of design, the Honda RS Concept can be seen with a styling similar to its recently unveiled HR-V sibling. The concept features a sleek front grille, flanked on either side by LED headlamps. The car also features stylish alloy wheels, a dual-tone paint scheme, wrap-around LED taillights connected by a LED strip and faux skid plates at either end.

The production version of the new RS concept is expected to measure around 4.3 metres in length and will be positioned below the HR-V in the brand's global lineup. The SUV will be offered with a 5-seater configuration.

In terms of powertrain, the new Honda RS SUV could borrow the engine from the international-spec City sedan. This comes in the form of a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with Honda's e:HEV mild-hybrid technology. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic.

While there is no official confirmation yet, the Honda RS could make it into the Indian market as well. If introduced in the Indian market, the SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and many others.

Above is the most important line. We all want Honda to do it. Honda just doesn't want it

This, if priced well with the right mix of engine / gearbox combination can give the Korean twins a run for it's money
But with Honda being Honda, fingers crossed

If & when Honda decides to launch this in India, it will be in tune with Honda India's tradition of 'too late to the party'. Here's hoping it actually reaches our shores.

Actually looks nice, except for those roof rails. Better than being never. I like the rear looks. I really doubt we get those tires and that too in that size. They look huge on this SUV. Just that Honda has to price it sensibly.

They don’t even have to look for any combination. Just the city’s engine gearbox itself will see this flying off the shelf.

But knowing honda, they will probably get it 10 years later when market would have moved to something else, like electric

The front end of the RS looks so good! A good 1L turbo with a smooth AT(No CVT pls) coupled with decent quality interiors and Honda reliability does make for a great proposition! I wish Honda would take our market more seriously and make their line-up desirable once again! God I wish they bring back the Civic!

Are we sure this is targetted at the Creta segment? Honda already has the HRV / Vezel in that space, internationally.

Looks to be a sub-4m vehicle to my eyes - and the design actually resembles Kia Sonet in many elements. Height is clearly at a disadvantage and the proportional length is unlikely to make it a Creta rival.

Am I the only one who thinks it looks more like an ACURA than a Honda?

Here is the video of the same. Does it look like VW T-ROC?

It looks like a proportionally shrunk new gen HR-V. Looks good though, a coupe SUV like design that could be unique in India and might have plenty of takers.

This is a concept and would at least take another 2 years to hit the roads. Add another 2 years for it to hit the Indian shores and there we have it, another product from Honda which simply failed to time it's development + launch correctly in a highly promising yet unforgiving market. Adding insult to the injury would be that lousy 1.2 engine which would be seen doing duty on this one too.

Knowing Honda, I am predicting that at a time when Mumbai city looks something like this, Honda will launch this RS with a 1.5 litre engine from the current gen City, quipped with a mild hybrid and CVT gear box.

On a more serious note, somehow this design doesn’t evoke the classic Honda trait of “man maximum machine minimum”. Just a gut feel. One would of course have to see the interior pics to confirm this but just looks very Nissan Juke like in design and proportion. As if it would be a bit like a Creta in external dimension without the equivalent interior space.

re: 2nd-gen Honda WR-V launched in Indonesia (page 4)

During the recent launch of Amaze, Honda announced they are working on C-SUV and would launch in 2023. If this car is the same as that in the announcement then by 2023, rivals will be launching Electrics and Hybrids, and Honda will launch this with lousy engine 1.2 L NA in the Indian market.

I feel they don't want to share the City's engineer with any other car as City is the bread and butter car for them and if they share the same engine in other cars, then 3-4k sales of City will also get hurt.

No hopes from Honda for the Indian market. Sadly!
