2023 Honda ZR-V SUV unveiled in Japan; Offered with Hybrid & AWD options

Honda has unveiled the 2023 ZR-V SUV in the Japanese market. The new Honda ZR-V is said to be based on the same platform as the Civic sedan and sits between the HR-V & CR-V offerings in the brand's global line-up.

The 2023 Honda ZR-V comes with an updated design, featuring a new front grille, faux skid plates and a refreshed set of sleek LED headlamps at the front. At the rear, the SUV features body-coloured bumpers, dual exhaust tips, wrap-around LED tail lights and a blacked-out roof-mounted spoiler.

Inside, the new 2023 ZR-V carries forward a cabin layout similar to the latest-gen Civic sedan. The SUV carries forward the same dashboard with the free-standing 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, physical climate controls and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. However, it does feature a few updated bits in terms of the gear lever, upholstery and a few other elements.

Powering the new Honda ZR-V will be two engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol unit, and the second is a larger 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired with a hybrid system. Both engines will be paired with an automatic transmission, while an all-wheel-drive system will also be offered as standard.

Re: 2023 Honda ZR-V SUV unveiled in Japan; Offered with Hybrid & AWD options

There is seriously something wrong somewhere when cars which are suited to the T for the Indian Market are launched elsewhere in the world but not brought to India !! Honda is struggling to sell the present set of wheels in India and a product like the H-RV or this Z-RV can do wonders for the brand and yet manufacturers refuse to bring the global cars. Such a brilliant looking car with equally capable hardware and yet we can only ogle and wonder what if !!

A clear departure from traditional Honda design language. Put Maserati, Porsche and few other European brands into a blender and you get the ZR-V. Looks European inside-out and safe to assume that it will never ever come to our shores..

Re: 2023 Honda ZR-V SUV unveiled in Japan; Offered with Hybrid & AWD options

I guess Honda is the only brand right now along with VW and Toyota who are following multiple completely different design language at the same time. Their CR-V, HR-V and ZR-V look miles different, but all of them look beautiful. Honda's on a roll with their SUVs.
That grille looks Maserati inspired and the headlights by Urus, doesn't it?

Looks good inside out, I hope common sense prevails and Honda folks bring this along with the CR-V and HR-V to the Indian market. C’mon Honda just do it, sales from City and Amaze can’t keep you long in India.

The US spec has only one engine option - a 2 L NA engine, and that too without hybrid technology. This is the one major difference.

US model (engine at 13:25)

It looks gorgeous. Wish Honda India gets serious about introducing SUV models and bring ZR-V and CR-V to India.

RANT ALERT!:

Why are you doing this to India, Honda ?
Even Honda fanboys will not stay loyal to you if you don’t bring good products like the ZRV here to India.
Till when must we wait?

The car looks great. I wish Honda would bring this to India even though I don't see any chances with the CKD operations wrapped up.

I have always wanted to try out turbo petrol engines from Honda.

Re: 2023 Honda ZR-V SUV unveiled in Japan; Offered with Hybrid & AWD options

2024 Honda ZR-V revealed for Europe with hybrid power.

Quote:
Essentially, it's the HR-V sold in North America where the model is larger than the namesake vehicle offered on the Old Continent. In other words, the Euro-spec ZR-V fills a gap we didn't know existed between the HR-V and the CR-V. One can never have too many crossovers, right?

The ZR-V can be best described as the Civic of crossovers and is offered in Europe exclusively with a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain you can't have on the US-spec HR-V for some reason. This electrified four-pot version is also sold at home in the Land of the Rising Sun and offers a combined output of 181 horsepower and 315 Newton meters (232 pound-feet) of torque.
ZR-V is 4570 millimeters (180 inches) long and 1840 mm (72.4 in) wide, thus making it closer in size to the outgoing CR-V rather than the next-generation model unveiled today in European specification. With the rear seats folded, it offers a cargo capacity of 1,291 liters (45.6 cubic feet).

Unveiled today at the European Media Event in Offenbach, Germany, the ZR-V is slated to go on sale this fall and take on the Nissan Qashqai and other mainstream compact crossovers.

Re: 2023 Honda ZR-V SUV unveiled in Japan; Offered with Hybrid & AWD options

Honda ZR-V secures 4-star rating in Euro NCAP tests,

Quote:
The passenger compartment of the ZR-V remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy numbers showed good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. Honda showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sitting in different positions. Protection of the driver’s chest was rated as marginal, based on dummy readings of compression. Otherwise, protection of all critical body areas was good or adequate for the front passenger and driver. Analysis of the deceleration of the impact trolley during the test, and analysis of the deformable barrier after the test, revealed that the ZR-V would be a
moderately benign impact partner in a frontal collision. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good apart from the chest of the driver, which was rated as poor based on dummy readings of compression. In the side barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good and the ZR-V scored maximum points in this part of the assessment. In the more severe side pole impact, protection was good or adequate for all critical parts of the body. Control of excursion (the extent to which a body is thrown to the other side of the vehicle when it is hit from the far side) was adequate. The ZR-V has a counter-measure to mitigate against occupant to
occupant injuries in such impacts. However, in Euro NCAP's test, the heads of the driver and front seat passenger hit each other and protection was rated as poor. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric analysis of the rear seats also indicated good whiplash protection. The ZR-V has an advanced eCall system which alerts the emergency services in the event of a crash. The car also has a system which applies the brakes after an impact, to avoid secondary collisions. Honda demonstrated that if the car entered water the doors, if locked, could be opened within two minutes of power being lost but provided no evidence that electric windows would remain functional long enough to allow occupants to escape.
