this is actually really dumb they crush peoples car jut because they couldn't take the precautionary measures while allowing a drag car to perform a burnout with people standing close to it.

And after crushing they should be recycled into lane spearators or median barriers. They can even save on the painting cost since they're already yellow and black!

This brings up a question.

Are the cars that are modified by people (not cosmetic changes, but changes to engine, transmission and other performance parts) in India, considered roadworthy by the authorities? Basically is the roadworthiness certificate of the manufacturer valid for the souped up cars? If not, is there a procedure to get the certificate from ARAI, similar to the homologation that is required for non-certified imported cars?

I think this is a wonderful move, even though my heart pains for the cars crushed but what they were indulging in is not right.

Please read the whole story before you post Pawan, they were dragging & doing the burnout ILLEGALLY. That is why the crushing was justified.

Is Southern California alone Illegal Dragging has been responsible for 13 deaths since March this year. And you should ask one of the residents there about how dangerous & irritating these people are with their "Riced" out cars before commenting on what happened & what the authorities did was wrong.

People aren't gonna stop street racing because the police decided to recycle peoples cars. by the way, do they have the right to do so?

People are gonna keep racing anyways and the cops will have to back off at some point.

Not that i support street racing or burnouts at meets, but i dont mind it either. Cops in the US and rest of the world need to focus on bigger more serious crimes.

If the cops try a stunt like this in India, it may lead to riots.

Also, the pics of the pile of cars should be posted in the "guess the car" thread...

i agree that this was done to curb street racing but they could have also done it like sell the parts for charity like stated in the report which would have at least benefited some people.
but i was mistaken with it earlier events the tenesey drag car incident.

or the parts that have been stolen could have been returned or sold and the money returned to the owner.
but i in no way support street racing.

Man that was a good one! A very very practical idea though.
