The next-generation Ford Mustang could come with a hybrid powertrain. According to reports, Ford has been developing a hybrid powertrain for the new-gen Mustang, scheduled to debut in 2023.



Reports suggest that Ford could offer two petrol-hybrid options - the first is based on the 2.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder unit while the other is based on the 5.0-litre V8. If the rumours do materialise, the 2023 Ford Mustang will be the first model from the brand to pair an electric motor with a V8 engine.

The hybrid Mustang could also feature a 4WD system with the V8 engine powering the rear wheels, while the electric motor will power the front wheels.



Further to this, the new-gen Mustang is also expected to feature Ford's 10-speed automatic transmission unit; built from the ground up. The new transmission unit is already in use on models such as the F-150 hybrid, Bronco, Ranger, Explorer and Lincoln.

As far as my knowledge goes, the current version of the Ford Mustang that is on sale in the American and Middle Eastern markets get a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Coming to the hybrid variant, Ford has time and again hinted at the possibility of a V8 paired to an electric motor and these discussions have been there in place since 2016.

Ford is working on introducing the new-generation Mustang globally sometime in 2023. However, well ahead of its global unveil, images have leaked online revealing the front design of the upcoming sports car.



The leaked images showcase the 2024 Ford Mustang without any camouflage. It can be seen with sleek LED headlamps flanking a smaller, less angular grille at the centre. The front bumper also seems to have been redesigned. The image reveals a much simpler design with clean lines compared to the current and previous iterations. The simple design is expected to be carried forward to the rear, although there are no images of it yet.



Coming to the interiors, earlier spy pics had revealed a large screen integrating both the digital instrument cluster and the central touchscreen infotainment unit. Other details included a flat-bottom steering wheel and a familiar gear lever.

The 2024 Ford Mustang is expected to carry forward updated versions of the same powertrain, as on the current models. These include a 2.3-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine. Reports also suggest that Ford is working on a V8 hybrid powertrain to be introduced on the new-gen Mustang sometime in 2025.

Oh I like this face much more than the previous generations front.
If accurate, It definitely looks more a muscle far frontend than the previous one.. which I always felt was just a traditional soft sports coupe look.

According to a media report, Ford will reveal the seventh generation Mustang at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show, scheduled to be held between September 14 and 25.



The latest iteration of the American muscle car has been spied testing on multiple occasions. The new-generation Ford Mustang is said to feature a sharper design with a revised front grille flanked by updated LED headlamps and a newly-designed front bumper. Overall, it will have a much cleaner and simpler exterior design compared to the outgoing model.

On the inside, the seventh-gen Mustang is said to feature a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a revamped dashboard layout and updated switchgear among other features.

Reports suggest that Ford will begin production of the new-gen Mustang during the first half of 2023. The seventh-gen of the muscle car will carry over the powertrains from the current model, albeit with a few upgrades. Earlier reports also suggested Ford could be working on a V8-hybrid powertrain option for the new-gen model, which is yet to be officially announced.

The Mustang is great and I'm sure the new 7th Gen will also rope in great sales figures for an import spots car but they must bring in the brilliant new Ford Ranger Raptor! The thing is a real heart throb In fact, I would go on to say that the Raptor might make a good case for itself as a CKD in limited numbers!

I remember reading somewhere that the current gen Mustang will carry on till 2028 with facelifts after which it will be replaced by an electric version, clearly that information was wrong. Either that or the 'next-gen' is just a heavy facelift.
