This thing goes from 0-62 in 4.5 secs officaily, expect it to be around 4.2 in actual testing.Merc always quotes slower times.

This is nothing compared to the CL65 AMG. The biturbo V12 has 612 horses and 738 ft lbs of torque!!!
I mean look at it. It's a real beast. It probably has more torque than any god**mn truck in India!!

I am not too greedy, I dont want a Ferrari, or a Lambo, I will be very happy with this. This is the Merc I had been waiting for. But then, if only it was possible to marry the W201 (190E) to this engine, it would have been perfect.

Someone said that Mercs are overrated in India!! Well get your hands on an old well maintained W201, W126 era car and you will know why. Beemers of the same era were sportier, no doubt but never quite the same in terms of solidity or the other aspects. But I will agree that its been a downhill move for Merc from there and a BMW's till about Chris Bangles influence went uphill.

But the best part is that, Both these Mega's are "back". Love both of them (over anything else - of somehow I also love old Peugeots for some reason)

No doubt that the car looks absolutely stunning, but i reckon would be a crucial element....a c63 priced close to the better looking CL or the SL would create competition within its own company!

I don't quite buy that. Plonking a big v8 and throwing in a truck load of abbrev's doesnt make it class leading technology.

Dude that one is insane. It seems the torque and horsepower have been "LIMITED" to those numbers. Its absolutely pointless all you're going do is change tires every month.

6.3 liter engine on a D-seg vehicle? Sounds more like american iron than a sophisticated Uber sedan. Why is it that Corvette gets critized for using large displacement but not Mercedes?

Mercedes has always been critisized for making numb vehicles. Now they are trying to take on that criticism thru the AMG brand. Infact its well known that if you wanted your Merc to handle like a Beemer it only needed a few dealer options to be fitted (apart from AMG spec), which were (as they were added options) never tested by the magazines. But it was a conscious effort by Daimler Benz to cater to the audience that liked to go fast but did not want an out and out sporty (read rough) feel.

There are a lot of people, like me, who like the car to be small but powerful and a few favourite cars would also involve BMW M3. So any competitor to M3 is indeed good. Big engines in Big Boats, never quite cut the cake, cos they are BOATS anyway, good in a straight line, the smaller machines can run rings around them.
