Re: 'Tyre Extinguishers' : Another example of activism gone wrong?

And I thought my country has more jobless people! Apparently these pseudo activists also glued their hands to the floor of the Porsche museum, but the staff pulled out a fantastic trick. The whole staff left, switching off the electric supply and leaving these pea-sized brains in dark and cold. Poor people couldn't even go to the washroom as their hands were stuck to the floor .

While I do feel SUV craze has gone out of hands with them transforming into humongous monsters (talking about American trucks), this is no way to protest against them.

These are all democracies, make your voice heard, gather enough support of voters and there can be legislations.

On a further note, more than the gas guzzling nature, I’m worried about the danger these SUVs with its towering hood (it’s almost as high as a full grown humans shoulders!!) poses to pedestrians and cyclists on the road.

Reminds me of a very recent article about road safety in USA

It's not activism. It's just blatant woke-ism. These snowflakes really donot care about the environment. They have an identity crisis and then make themselves belong to such spiteful group of morally challenged idiots.

This is not at all activism. If they are that concerned, they should rather fight to have a sapling planted for every car purchased every year by the owner or the manufacturer or the government or by themselves. Destroying someone’s properties is outright nonsensical.

Not only that. They come from societies which have built up considerable protection and welfare for their citizens. How come no one from an African country does this nonsense? Because they are too busy thinking and working towards their next meal, their own and family's future. It is only the more unfortunate lot from those regions that get involved in strife , which too is of an existential nature. But things are changing.I would recommend a YT video of President Paul Kagame ( Rwanda) ticking off ( mildly put) a BBC journalist when questioned about human rights abuse.

Its good to see at least few democracies are standing up to those hooligans who in the grab of peaceful protest disrupt, damage pubic/private lives and properties.

A climate protester who blocked a lane of traffic on Sydney Harbour Bridge has been sentenced to 15 months in prison with a non-parole period of eight months.

The NSW attorney general, Mark Speakman, on Friday evening said “the government supports the right of all individuals to participate in lawful protest and dissent – not just in the media or in social media but in public places including street marches.”

“However, the right to protest must be weighed against the right of ordinary members of the public to move about safely and freely in their day-to-day lives,” he said in a statement.

Re: 'Tyre Extinguishers' : Another example of activism gone wrong?

The so called green movement in the West has gone nuts. Yes, climate change is a real problem - but it is one of weighing costs today against potentially larger costs tomorrow. Humans may face economic costs if sea levels rise, and political costs if changes in weather patterns make certain parts of the world less capable of supporting large populations than others. But the human species is NOT going to go extinct due to climate change. Costs we incur to combat climate change need to be seen as insurance premiums - and assessed as such, if the premium is too high, it is worth taking the risk yourself.

Unfortunately, too many kids have been brain washed by woke teachers and media into believing that climate change is an existential threat, and that drastic action to stop it is needed. An equally large fraction of the climate protesters are the typical communist agitators - who hate capitalism and the progress it brings, or are merely jealous of those who have a nice car.

I do hope governments in the West take strict action as per the law against such vandals - and ensure that tax paying citizens are allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labour the way they deem fit - whether by driving Hummers or Ferraris or Nissan Leafs.

Condoned? Did you mean condemned?
