Ford has unveiled a "Men's Only Edition" of its iconic Explorer SUV — but this launch isn't the tone-deaf blunder it first appears. Instead, the "completely reimagined" vehicle is meant to draw attention to women's contributions in the automotive industry, marking International Women's Day in an unexpected way. The "Men's Only" Ford Explorer lacks "many of the essential features developed by women," Ford notes, meaning this new ride is missing a heater, brake lights, GPS, turn signals and windshield wipers, among other features.
A good PR exercise during women's day week
This is a counter exercise, it gives the wrong message indeed. In fact, if anything it only proves men's contribution.
Imagine an opposite, women's only edition of this Ford car, I think it won't even have an engine (no motor either so not an EV), frame or headlight bulb. At least this men only machine will run on the road. The women only machine will be a unimaginable weight.
I'd advise people to follow this:-
1. Identify men and women as equal in existence, not in each and every function of so called modern life. Remember, the concept of genders is God's design, not ours. Trust the design.
2. Don't pressurise women to do things that men can, coz women specialise in doing things that men CAN'T. They're special, don't push them to stand in ordinary crowd's queues. Let them free.
3. Be realistic & practical.
If you argue about women inventing more stuff, you obviously know you're gonna lose the argument very badly, thus making the Women's day even worse for the purpose.
Instead, why not propagate that each inventor had a mother, a wife behind him, who did a huge lot to bring the inventor to life and age, but never even got the credit?
The mightiest (human) warrior never carried a mountain, but remember, the mightiest (human) mother can comfort and make sleep even the most frightened child...
We need to regard soft touch towards life as an ability, as a strength, not as a weakness. A fundamental rethinking is needed.
