Volkswagen Taigun facelift spied in Brazil; India launch not anytime soon

Volkswagen has started road trials of the Taigun facelift. The test mule was spotted in Brazil, where it is sold as the T-Cross.

The spy images suggest that the Taigun is set to receive a few cosmetic changes to the front end. The Brazil-spec crossover seen here appears to have a redesigned grille, headlamps and fog lamps. The test car has a heavily camouflaged rear end, which suggests that VW may have made some changes to the rear as well.

We can expect Volkswagen to introduce similar updates on the Taigun in India. However, the timeline for the same is still unclear.

The SUV is expected to carry forward the same set of engines, though. At present, the car is offered with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines, with a choice of manual and dual-clutch automatic transmissions.

Sighted quite a few T-Cross(es) during my recent visit to Europe.

Must say that the facelift version definitely seems to have better road presence (camouflage effect, perhaps)

One can spot the ADAS module at the front logo location and in the windscreen. Six months from now, almost all of the segment cars will come with ADAS it seems.

I don't know what VW folks are thinking, Data speaks and they should learn from the
Skoda (India becomes Skoda's third-largest market in 2022) data here and plan accordingly.

VW Group has one of the finest machines under there belts, they are not launching them properly here in India.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift spied without camouflage

The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is currently undergoing road trials in Brazil. Earlier, we had shared spy images of a camouflaged test mule, but now the car has been caught completely undisguised.

The latest spy images suggest that the Taigun will receive minor design updates, especially around the front fascia. The car has a redesigned grille and reworked headlamps. The air dam area and the fog lamp housing have also been tweaked.

The rear of the updated Taigun looks similar to the current model. It has wraparound LED tail lamps with an LED light bar. The complete unit has a smoked effect.

The Taigun facelift is expected to carry forward the same set of engines, though. At present, the car is offered with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines, with a choice of manual and dual-clutch automatic transmissions.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun facelift spied in Brazil; India launch not anytime soon

The article from CarWale is quite misleading. The Taigun has always shared its styling with the SAIC-VW T-Cross while the Brazilian T-Cross has shared its styling with the Tacqua. There is no reason for the Taigun to get this facelift because the Taigun looked nothing like the pre-facelift Brazilian T-Cross anyway. Even in Mexico for example VW sells the Indian Taigun and Brazilian T-Cross as separate models.

Exactly my thoughts why would they even remove all that chrome from the Indian model? Finally european manufacturers are understanding our tastes.
