Voted for BMW since the brand image is that of being driver focussed. IMO, MB stands for luxury, Audi and Lexus for VFM in their respective catagories with respect to brand image.

Audi was seen as an 'alternative' untill a few years ago. Not any more, and deservedly.

BMWs have won Engine of the Year Awards for last xx years.

Engine, handling - super body, the kidney grill. List goes on, on why beemers are the best.

My parting justification - M3, M5, M6

Clearly, the Europeans can't match the reliability of Lexus. Except for the IS and a bit for the GS, the LS and ES are boats masquerading as cars.

Audi is a glorified VW and BMW is a driver's car. MB however, provides the ideal balance and tons of models and trims. Make mine an E63 AMG please, the ultimate sleeper car this side of US$100k.

Here's another perspective. Someone I know is looking for a luxo-barge and cant decide between the A8, BMW 7 or the S-Class. We spent a good amount of Sunday going through the pros and cons of each 80+ lakh machine.

He is leaning over the A8...primary reason being its conservative looks and the monster 4.2 engine. Sure the starting range (petrols) of the Beemer is also a 4 liter petrol but he cant just digest how the 7 and the S-Class look. And the fact that the 7 is nearing the end of its product cycle.

Come to think of it, the man does have a point. Audi has the only design which comes off as truly elegant. The others are a mix of aggression and quirkiness. However, I asked him to forgive the S-Class its looks and go for the more complete package that the S350 offers.

P.S. : The A8 build quality is astounding. Sure, the 7 and S are well-built but the A8 is in another league altogether. It left a life-long impression on us.

They make a statement

These are vehicles that are going to impress people. That may be exactly why someone would buy one of them. Certain clients need to be impressed as do certain constituents. Mercedes particularly says, "I am important. I have much money." One hopes that the owners do not really believe they can purchase self-worth with such a car.

Woot! The BMWs have more votes than the other three combined! No wonder the Quandts are so rich!

I voted for BMW without reading the first post. If it is only brand image, then it is Mercerdes for me, especially in India. That said, the new C-class is a radical change, sheep turned into a wolf! I love it.

80% votes go to the BMW; what else would you expect on a forum full of enthusiasts?!

i prefer -
1. new a4 to the new c-class and 3 series
2. 5 series to the a6 and the e-class
3. s-class to the 7 series and the a8
as u can see its a combination of the three manufacturers. as for lexus i dont like them much.

its bmw for sure , stunning to drive yet is practical as well , lexus lacks in aspirational value like its german rivals since it has no sportscars (without the sc430)

BMW
Alpina B7 or M5. Heck i would even be happy with a 325i. The new 1 series looks VFM too. Oh and not to forget the mighty x5 and the m6 ...

For an suv though i would take the new lx570 ...
