In USA, did Ford Motor Co change the name of Ford 500 to Ford Tarus?.
I read some where that Ford 500 was not selling in good numbers and before Camry took the first position, Taurus was the most selling car in US. Why did they do this to Taurus?

The Previous Taurus and 500 were parallely available till sometime back. There is a considerable amount of renaming game going with Ford (Focus Fusion etc). However Taurus and 500 being of the same segments, it was decided not let go the brand equity the Taurus has derived over time. So the redesigned 500 was renamed as Ford Taurus.

Hope they revive the Taunus name too, with its technical architecture.

The 500 was a superflop and it looked dull. Ford did the right thing by calling it a Taurus and giving it a few touchups here and there.

Yeah, lets hope they resurrect the Pinto & Edsel too, and GM should bring back the Vega & Corvair. That way we will all be out of jobs and have more time to enjoy the scenery.

How about the cop car Chevy Caprice? If Ford can still sell the Crown Vic, then why can't Chevy name some new car Caprice?
