I'll spare the trouble for our dear readers: it's ahead in sales numbers for econoboxes, not on a physical race-track. :P

EDIT: excuse me for jumping the gun. but the headline was typically "Mumbai Mirror"-like.

I am failing to understand why thread title has been changed? That was not mine. That title was given by ET only. (Check the link)

Pleeeeeeeeeease do not get hyper. I think it is just biasedness in our mind that we take race word in a single meaning otherwise it could have lots of other meaning also.

Looks like Maruti marketing team is wining and dining with journos these days, especially from Times of India.. I am not exactly sure how this is "NEWS" !!!

You said it mate. Its of little relevance here if at all. I do not think those cars are branded as Marutis in Indonesia. Its probably Suzuki Estillo that sells well there. Good for them. Why should india be bothered with it? Just as US can not be bothered with the Chevy Spark starts selling huge volumes in India.

Its all a hell lot of bunkum... essentially to get some traction in this market vis-a-vis this car. I have a very strong hunch that irrespective of all those bombastic claims that Maruti makes the Estillo is outsold by all other cars in the Maruti stable (barring M800 maybe). Maruti is now trying to play that old con game. Indians are supposedly prone to this "if its good for 'em then its gotta be good for us" syndrome.

I read on Tbhp sometime back that Maruti share prices were getting affected due to the lack of Estilo sales, and that the car is a failure.

Can you please let us know what is bad with ZEN which is not good for India? Give me a single points except for look (subjective) and color (don't buy that color)? I have heard a saying in old days (even today) that if one sheep goes in a direction, other will follow. likewise car buying attitude.

Actually Maruti exports this same car to Indonesia.
The original Suzuki Estilo (MR Wagon) has been replaced in Japan with the new gen MR Wagon. Also, the japanese cars kei cars have a 660cc engine restriction.
BTW, Maruti also produces the WagonR+ (its different from our WR). I guess that goes in Europe. Seen a lot of them here in Gurgaon.
