Mercedes 2008 C class that looks like E class

NY times review of 2008 C class.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/04/au...4MERCEDES.html

Reviewer says "... there was a slight delay when the gas pedal was depressed — a familiar Mercedes characteristic"

Is this true?
However, in the next sentence he says ""...the throttle response of the C350 was nearly instantaneous"

The delay thing is true. There is a certain play in the throttle and then the car takes off beyond this play. Throttle response has been judged beyond this point as to keep a car moving you will anyway have overcome the play.

However the new C like its predecessor looks more like a baby S rather than an E. Even the articles shows C and S cars. Maybe New york times has gone out of its mind!

The throttle response is only because of the auto gearbox. It is a very tiny delay which can really be excused.it exists in the current model of C class as well.however that can be overriden by the touch shift gear change which gives you instant power delivery.

Not the delay on the tranny, Mercs have this awkward throttle movement, where it is bit weighted at the top and as you overcome it, the car starts to move. I have seen this on many old high powered Benzes.
