The 2006 Honda Civic Type R, with a 2.4 ltr Accord engine tuned to produce 250 bhp, 17" wheels as standard and a choice to increase that to 18"s, might make one feel that the Civic now, has everything it always needed to be the top notch hatch back.

But before you come to any conclusions, why don't you have a look at it.......

.......i'm just wondering, that maybe the newer generation of designers probably don't have what it takes to make cars look beautiful. While Chris Bangle managed to change the way the world looked at the BMW.

Honda seems to have gone one step ahead of him. Rather one step backwards.

While the rear of the car looks kinda futuristic and has that typical 206 stance (which i can just about live with), the front end looks like it's been picked from an 80's Japanese MUV (completely un-acceptable).

But there is still hope, as this is just a rough idea of what the car "MIGHT" look like. I'm sure Honda isn't foolish enuf to launch something as mismatched as this one, unless ofcourse they plan to prove me wrong.

As for now, all we can do is wait and watch!!!

I think the rear of the car looks pretty nice. The front looks awful.. definitely MUV like.
If they change the front the car could look pretty awesome imo.

Gross..... is the only word that comes to mind about the front. What is happening to the designers nowadays?

seems like designers are more concerned in creating a more aerodynamic body and reducing the cd figures.if one had to go by looks ,the NHC,santro should not have sold at all.
the above civic is not that bad at all.and then the H name itself sells.no matter how ugly the car is.
the Prius is also not that good looking ,but still its the Car of the Year.
off late all Honda cars seems to look similar from the front.teh NHC,N Accord and now this Civic.

well the front completely resembles the older generation Toyota Previa.
the car looks awesome if you try to imagine it on road.

If they get the design right, i'm sure it'll even displace the S2000 in terms of performance for it has 10bhp more, 200 cc more and it's lighter than the S2k.

But if the Civic gets a boost, don't expect Honda to keep the S2000 where it is. For all you know it might end up with a 3ltr engine. LOL

The NSX might get discontinued and if that happens the HSC would surely takes it's place.

The car looks very good and sporty but could do with some changes to the front.

The Civic has progressed to a much more complete car over the years. Look at this gen, imagine it without the Type R skirts and all....its certainly taller, plusher and more European than its predecessor.

GTO

well i dont wanna say much guys but there is gonna be a new type-r civic in town soon pumping out abt 250 bhp.....keep u all posted with details...will be seen in january

How I wish I was living in Europe!

Honda issued this press release right before the Geneva Auto show.

Looks similar to the EVO X!!

How I wish I had enough money to buy such a car, even though I DO live in Europe.

:Shockked: eeeks.... ugly color.... makes the already ugly car even uglier....

Actually, the Type r wont be the best Civic this time. Honda has taken it a step further and is planning a Civic Type RR (Inspired by the CBR RRs). While the Type R will have a 197-200bhp engine, the Type RR will be a lot more powerful and hardcore.

According to UK mags power of upto 225 and above can be expected.

Sightly OT: Right now in US everybody seems to ga ga over Coupe.. move over sports car/convertible.. coupe is really hot these days. Saw the civic 2006 with a shiny alloy in Miami in the long weekend.. Man it sure was a stunner. Honda was never interesting in the looks dept.. but they seem to have moved over.
