The prescribed speed limits in Germany are as follows:
( This was about 5 years ago. I guess it is still the same)
1) City limits: 50 Kmph
2) Country roads: 70 kmph
3) Autobahns: No limits; minimum speed limit is 130 kmph for most vehicles

So, if Schumi was driving though the city / country roads, he sure would have been overspeeding. Maybe he got away because there were no speed cameras installed in the route he took.

I remember reading sometime back that Ralf Schumacher was booked for overspeeding on some highways in Austria. So Schumi Sr. was lucky I guess.

Haha! Good stuff, I'd have been thrilled if Michael Schumacher drove my cab! Cabby should have taken a pic with him at the wheel of his cab and used it to get a better price when he wants to sell the thing!

Wonder what he'd have done in mumbai - I'm sure any old driver in one of those black and yellows would have had him beat!

Lucky Puppy

I would say one lucky pup to get the ride in a cab with probably the world's best driver behind the wheels. Must have painted the autobahn "scarlett"

I dont think this article is authentic, and seriously doubt Schumacher would swap places with a taxi driver on public roads. Knowing how archaic German laws are, the taxi driver could stand to lose his licence and Schumy could face a stiff punishment.

Publicity stunt or whatever else.....

But according to today's TOI, Schumi's PR rep confirmed the incident.

bas yaar

its just a cabbie looking for publicity. Schumi must've been late or cabbie must've been a dork. Either ways, since when did media articles, and esp of this kind deserve such indepth thought?

Give him a break, and let's just smile. Moralizing can happen later

Read it in BBC too...

"A taxi driver in Germany was left shaken and stirred after handing his keys over to seven-times Formula One champion Michael Schumacher......"

it's true.....I guess I'am not gonna judge if what he's done is good or bad since I'am no one to do that nor that he or I is going to give a damn about it.....but there's definitly a little child in everyone of us.....he did something childish or probably he thought if he drove then they wouldnt miss the flight...obviously since he is the best driver alive in the Milkyway.

MS may be fined for the incident. The police may investigate the incident. MS may be fined
Also, Lewis Hamilton was fined for driving his Merc at 120mph (196km/h) in France. He has been banned from driving in France. Hamilton fined and banned
What's getting into these guys?
