I think Land Rover and Jag will make cars in India for some counteries in Asia. However it will just be CKD kit manafacturing or something like that. As part of the deal with Ford, TATA have to agreed to keep all the UK plants open for at least 5 years. The only way to do this is to increase production and actually add new models. In essence they will need to expand JLR's range. This deal is no lift and shift. TATA may however be able to make some Rover's (not Land Rover/ Range Rover) in India. This could be their volume brand. The rumours around this deal is that TATA may even make some cars here that they also plan to make in India. This will max out the UK plants.

In Europe this car is really following all the current trends. Think of it as a vehicle for Europe and the USA, rather than for India where a Discovery may be more popular. Range Rover is increasingly expanding into new markets. To put it in context the current Range Rover now outsells the Mercedes S class in the UK. It's actually stealing their buyers. So don't be surprised if in about a decade Range Rover decides to roll an S class out.

This car would go into production, just not in the same form. This Rover is smaller than LR2. Seems this is only the second prototype LR ever created.

Land Rover LRX/ New Range Rover

Land Rover's LRX has got a Government grant of 27m pounds to go into production, and the car is set to go on sale next year. It will however be badged as a Range Rover. This new car is also very eco-friendly- the first cars will be under 150g/km and a later hybrid version can reduce this to 120g/km and offer a FE of 60mpg.

These are the first official pics:

Looks better than that Ssangyong rip-off, the BMW X6 SAC.

Are those Girls realy THAT tall or is the car very small? If thqat is a small car, there is no way it should be badged a Range Rover!! What a disgrace to the name.

LRX is better Badged Range Rover..

This suv is not worth the name of land rover...as someone mentioned before...Land Rovers are no nonsense strictly functional, utilitarian and go any where vehicles, robust and simple in design.

Of the land rover vehicles the last one deserving of that name was LR Discovery series 2(obviously after LR series 1,series 2,DEFENDER and Discovery Series 1)for its capablities.
With LR3 they added complicated electronics, thereby making it very vulnerable to off road environment.

LRX fits in the Range Rover category because, Range Rovers are a combo of luxury with attempt at what Land Rovers are famous for.
Also LRX will look better on road and be a sore sight anywhere off road, with mud and slush.
