08 are selling less than MSRP. 41-42K. I would buy this and spend 10K on supercharging or whatever else and it'd be good enough. So yes I agree ZR1's gonna be tough to sell.
You kiddin me?? $37K? Woohoo! Thats a steal! I wonder where the Z01's sales are headed..

All of them are, in a way, even the new ones and the ZR1 too. They're not like a truck, obviously, but they can be driven without the bodywork. You can call it a quasi-spaceframe design.

PS I was reading this month's HOTROD magazine and they featured an LS-series based crate engine that Chevy sells for the aftermarket. That's a 427 ci (7 liter) normally aspirated engine that makes almost as much hp as the LS9!! Imagine, an old carb lump like that making equal hp as your 100k engine. Granted it doesnt have to meet emissions, but still, that speaks volumes for what GM has achieved with the ZR1 (NOTTT!!!)

Those who visited the Detroit Auto show, was Aston Martin & Saleen cars on display? Just curious. I found the floor plan for the Auto Show in Houston this weekend, and it shows these two car makers to be on display.

Detroit Auto Show - Now in pictures

Just came back from Detroit downtown. Could not spend much time at the auto show. Here's I could gather in a span of a couple of hours.

This is the first time I am uploading any pics on team-bhp so it would take some time for me to upload all pics. Also my cam's memory stick ran out of memory hence had to click last few pictures using my cybershot mobile.

2008 North American International Auto Show as it is officially called. Here's the website if one needs more information. 2008 North American International Auto Show

OK. Here goes the first installment. I hope it works. Fingers crossed.

Here are some pics from my side. Me and Ananth stopped by the show. Overall, not an exciting show this year. Not many surprises or launches...I guess it reflects the mood in the industry. Cars shown are the Mazda Furai concept, Nissan GTR, BMW X6 and Audi R8 V12 TDI. The Furai was an absolute stunner. Pics dont do justice to capture its presence.

Hey, Rock and Roll...didn't know you were in town.

I made a web album of the pics that I bothered to take:

Picasa Web Albums - The Pipefather's - 2008 NAIAS

Nothing very special this year, although it was a treat to see Audi's V12 TDI engine, and the new STi as well. Oddball's were the Suzuki SX4 with a Busa handlebar (WHA??) and the tiny chinese cars in the basement. Some Chinese cars were really good like the BYD (amazing interiors) and I think they'll do well if they can ensure consistent quality.

The Mazda Furai was a brilliantly executed concept. If anything they should be putting that rotary engine into such cars. Yes it was a little over the top but it evoked the 787B from Le Mans. No bullshiite, no bling, just pure racecar engineering.

The Ford stand gets my vote for being the blandest and most un-interesting stand in the entire show, Korean and even Chinese manufacturers included. Absolutely nothing there except for the Verve (good design but it wont make it here for sure).
