If everyone else is going to build cars like Tata's headline-grabbing Nano, GM's going to pile on, too. Bob Lutz cites GM's part-ownership stake in Wuling Motors, a Chinese manufacturer of sub-$3,000 utility vehicles as a possible source of a GM Nano competitor.

The car they are planning is none other than a restyled Daewoo Matiz.

Here's the link on Autoblog.

Micro to become macro? GM looking at competing with the Nano - Autoblog

It does'nt look like much compared to the Nano.Of course I can't say more until I see the whole car or atleast beter pics.

I think GM should first sort out the pricing model of the existing portfolio than jumping to 1 lakh car. Considering the past pricings by GM, at the most they offer are 2 wheels in one lakh. :uncontrol

what are they going to change or what features are they going to knock off from the Matiz/Spark to make it a 1 lac rupee car? And if they can price it at 1 lac by making minor modifications then aren't they ripping us off with the prices at which they are selling the Spark to us?

GM reliabilty on a 1 lac car... Doubtful !!!

Tata Nano = Micro Matiz... GM are quite good at cutting corners, question is which corners ?? :D

I don't know much at this point. Just came across the article on Autoblog.
I'll have to look around a bit for that.
