YES! Roadster

Small car , light weight , looks good powerful engine. Good recipe....no?!
YES! CLUBSPORT / YES! JAPAN

Saw this in the news.

Engine -> 3.2 litre V6 - 255hp.
Weighs < 1000kg's. 890 to be precise.
JUST the kind of car that we need. No need for heated seats and silly technology or whatever else (thats optional too though).
No need for bloated up cars (GTR's?). Large scale automakers have almost given up making small cars that are hot and fast.

Fortunately small companies like the Yes Roadster make good use of engines and make hot fast cars like these .
BTW this one IS coming to the USA !
Here's some more pics. Looking forward to all your opinions .

P.S. check the link above and search in all that Japanese the Club R version weighs close to 600kgs. and outputs 340 horsepower using a lighter 2.0Turbo from the VW GTI. Looks good no?

Nice find, bhupi!! Damn...not bad at all!
Trust the Japs to come up with something that can whoop 3/4 of the competition in this segment! A healthy 255bhp! There goes the Miata MX-5 out of the window! Looks aren't the best, but they ain't bad either!cheers:

(And a name better than YES would sound good.. )

The only prob is the price tag Haven't heard about that yet. It can't be as cheap as the miata though thats for sure!! But hey atleast there's more light weight fast cars!

Looks good. Light and decently powerful. Wonder when it's gonna show up on Top Gear.

nice shape, miata has a softer look but this one looks odd and evil.price is not anounced as yet and thats the most crucial point which decides its success or failure.

Nice car. Pure performance with not much styling. Like many Japanese kit cars the quality is as good as OEM but will never be sold outside JDM.

For a 1st time entry,a price bracket between $25K-$35 sounds more like it. Its got more power than the Miata, but a tad bit less than the Saturn Sky.

I'm skeptical Bhupi. It takes a lot of money to certify it. It may come in as kit car that you ahve to assemble just like the Noble.

The car has debuted in NY auto show and it will retail at $78,000 for the 280 hp V6, $98K for 360 hp turbo'ed V6 and the top of the line for $150K. You can probably buy 5 miatas for that price.

Exactly,Steer. For that price, there are a ton of good cars that boast of power & luxury. Who'd want to shell out ~ $80K for something like this ..

Nice... and even if u consider 30K dealer markups which will run the GTR to 100K compared with the turbo version of the Yes! Which brings an interesting question up. What would you spend your 100K on? A lighter more power to weight ratio YES or the plusher more HP GTR?
