ANATMO +

The custom duty is 100 percent depends on cc for example if the car is 1000cc the original price wud be 3 lakh and we would get the car for 6 lakh and duty increase with the cc

The reason you see so many imports is because the government has liberalized the duty structure on imports to 100%, with a 2% depreciation allowance per month for upto 25 months. Minimum duty on an imported car is 50% after depreciation.

It might look good to see all these cars on the road but from an economic POV it's horrible. In India your domestic industries are taken seriously and protected. In Pakistan the government has essentially ruined the domestic auto industry by letting these imports pour in.

But why would the Pakistani govt care? So many kickbacks at Customs & Excise.
Good to have an outsiders perspective. The Indian government has a slightly different angle on that. Indian made cars are heavily taxed as it is and imported cars are like db1 puts it, the ultimate status symbol. Essentially, they collect taxes from the manufacturer/consumer and still treat cars as 'luxury' items.

I hope in future, rationalisation will come in the way of tax reduction on CKD/SKD/CBU units. The upside being that local service would be available and prices of spares would come down once the numbers go up.

Can we have a few pics of those RX8s, db1?

Thanx for sharing the pics with us. Post away bro'. And, try to take some pics of your own too, in additon to other's pics. I know that there are some really 'hot' cars in Pak. Explain to readers here, the import car scene in Pak, so they can understand why many cars still have the original plates on them, the 'good' and the 'bad' of it!....

@ All Members listen carefully

These pictures 1-1000 101% from PAKISTAN "OK".

About Dubai/UK plates etc (Fraud)

You can easily drive your ride in Pakistan with international numberplate if you have got money and sources in Pakistan. If you people come to Pakistan you can see alots for int numberplate rides on the Karachi/Lahore

and Islamabad Airport. Secondly In Pakistan Mostly Cars imported from Dubai, USA, UK and Japan so Numberplate process takes around 3-4 months in Pakistan. So people apply for the numberplate but drive there

rides on the streets of pakistan. ill upload videos of cars in Pakistan soon with INT numberplates rolling on Karachi Lahore and Islamabad Roads.

NOW CLEAR?

About Drive with int numberplate's

Thanks All Members Around the world on Team-BHP Forum.
