I also did a cool animation where the car morphs from the original to the above pic.
Its a simple morph, but the cool part is that i made it in such a way that as the bonet lengthens, the front tire rolls forward

I still can't understand Mercedes' strategy. In such a powerful car, why can't they just put in a frickin manual transmission. How much more pathetic can Mercedes get by not having a decent stick shift on most of its powerful cars. Even on the SLK they came up with a lousy 5-speed auto. They said that the current 7-speed auto couldn't handle that much torque. I mean common Mercedes, grow up.

dude.... did u say grow up????? you have to be joking...

Mate..that 7 speed tranny is a work of art in itself...selects the right gears for you...
will downshift upto 3 gears if and when required...and you have the paddle shift for a wide choice of gears...

i know it lacks the feel of using your left foot for a change...but with the quick shifter...who needs one..

one of the my mates old man drives an E55...thats why i know what i am talking about..my mate takes his fathers SALOON for a track day over his S2000...so do the math..

You want a proper manual? Buy a TVR or a Lotus, or a Corvette or a Noble.

Merc have a reputation of latest technology to keep up, and that is just what they will do.

BMW tried to do the same thing with the M5s and M6s, but the company had to bow down to the customers after all, people in US were not going all after the M5 and M6, which made BMW make a manual transmission for the 2 cars..

What's the big deal about that? Volkswagen's DSG does the same thing (they have the 7 speed in the Veyron), Porsche's Tiptronic also has manual downshifting, almost every semi-automatic in the world does the same thing.
In fact the DSG is the fastest gearbox in the world as it uses 2 automated computer controlled clutches. Where's Merc's 7-speed now?
