Leon Writes has spotted the 1 Series in the Southern Cape village of Groot Brak. The car is almost undisguised with a bit of black tape covering some parts.

The 1 Series, which is one of the most-anticipated cars of the years, will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show. BMW is aiming the 1 Series at the VW Golf.

At first the German car manufacturer will only launch a four-door hatch but more derivatives will follow which will include a two-door and a sedan.

A coupé and cabriolet version will also make its appearance sometime next year, but it will be badged the 2 Series.

Think they gonna stop there??

NO! There will also be a cabriolet version and btw BMW it seems has decided to name the entire series 1 series and not 2 for some of the version so in an earlier post which i said as M2 will now be called M1!

Spotted: 2009 BMW 1-Series Coupe

On a recent BMW 3-series Convertible press launch in Arizona, WINDING ROAD editor Reilly Brennan was able to free up some new dirt on the 1-series, confirming that the U.S. marketplace will indeed receive both a two-door coupe and convertible. Better still, those models are slated to appear sometime during 2008.

Expect a version of the 3.0-liter inline-six that’s on duty in the super quick 130i, among other BMW vehicles. Priddy reports that the stonking 3.0-liter turbocharged six found in the 335i could form the basis of a 1-series M version, though we don’t know if they’d consider calling it the M1

Looks good doesnt it?! The sedan should make good sense for India as well...and with local assembly/production...sounds even better!

AFAIK SPG is also using the latest Mercedes Sprinter vans for training. Think they are used as VVIP Ambulances too by SPG.
