Mahindra launches Scorpio & Pickup in Peru

MUMBAI: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said on Wednesday it had launched its Scorpio sport utility and its Pik-Up range in Peru, further extending its presence in Latin America.

The launch was in partnership with Maquinaria Nacional S.A., an arm of the Gildemeister Group, an importer and distributor of vehicles which also represents Mahindra in Chile.

"The launch in Peru will help us consolidate our growing presence in South America," Sanjeev Saksena, senior general manager for Central and South America, said in a statement.

Mahindra, India's top utility vehicle and tractor maker, in January began assembling the Scorpio and Pik-Up in Brazil with a local partner. It also assembles the vehicles in Egypt and exports them to markets in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Mahindra, which aims to double its domestic sales and quadruple exports by 2010, is scheduled to launch the Scorpio in the United States in 2009.

thats good news from mahindra.good for their exports and overall profits.does the production capacity they are currently running be enough for this kind of expansion.

Mahindra seems to be making their mark around the world, slowly but surely. There are quite a few of the Scorpio SUVs in the UAE, and are available as a reasonable rate when compared to the other utes in the same bracket.

The Scorpio pick-up took the third position in this grueling rally. This video is really inspiring. Lot of action happening in this video. Mahindra Scorpio at Rally Dos Sertoes Brazil. When will such rallies happen in India?

If mahindra pickup can take a position in Dos Sertoes rally, it can have a chance in Dakar rally. I think Mahindra should attempt Dakar rally also. If Mahindra wins some position in that rally, it would work wonders for Mahindra.
