800's are the most and then esteems and sumos.most of these 800's and sumos can be opened with ANY key.

yeah you red right any key.jus stick it in it doesnt have to go in prop and jus turn it.the lock should come up.after my friend showed me this and i managed to open 3 out of 5 800's. althouh you cant start the car with that key.

The guys who tow your car away do it the best. They use this steel strip and slide it down the side of your window and open the car. They do it so fast and so casually its amazing.

Once i managed to get my self locked out with my keys still inside (i dont use this keyless thingie). Then a bunch of car drivers(atleast one of them is a ex-con) of my team managers tried the same as u have mentioned. Finally after about an hour to my relief, due to lack equipment or due to loss of touch, i dont know what, they just manage do damage some lever inside and were not able to open the door.

Hi Guys,

This thread is not updated in last two years ! Last two years have seen many changes in auto-industry in India. With Maruthi introducing iCATS & newer cars coming into India.

As I read about Khaadu's Bolero being stolen & similar complaints on Bolero being stolen in many places, I was wondering what is the current "stolen market" scene in India like? Any news/updates on "most stolen" cars in India?

Top stolen cars, India:
  • Maruti 800
  • Santro
  • Maruti Zen
  • Alto
  • Scorpio
  • Indica
  • Esteem
  • Bolero
Basically those cars which fetch good price at second hand market.

Quote:
...
Police sources say thieves are usually a part of an organised racket involving RTO officials. So while one person breaks open the car and steals it, others in the group change the number plate, prepare fake registration papers and palm it off to unsuspecting customers.
....
Usually, the stolen vehicles are disposed of outside the state.
