Ferrari Race Day + Meet at Infineon Raceway

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/intern...xperience.html

Continuing from this thread. We reached Infineon Raceway and took 2 tickets (kept as a souvenir) for $40. I exclaimed, 20$ per head only? We look for parking and put the Jag on top of a hill that overlooks the parking around the race track. You can take a look at what it looked like from the parking lot on the following pics.

So we head into the parking lot and I just went mad. There was a Testarossa, a Lambo Miura, ....... I just realised that I cannot sit and type all the cars that I saw in there. Suddenly I hear a big roar, the Alfa 8C's were going through their practice rounds. What sound!!! Only an Italian sports car could give that out. And here there were like 14 of them from classic era racing on track. Its truly an experience and the voice still echoes in my mind as I type this. I went through clicking 300 pictures around track. All are hi-res and 3 MB each in size making it difficult to resize each of them and put them here. If you guys have a short cut I will be glad to try.

As soon as I finish clicking pics at the parking lot I see the Alfa's and Ferrari's exiting the race track. The first event was sadly over but the exhaust notes were good enough for me to keep the memory. Next was Drum Race 2. Drum race because it involved cars having drum brakes. I really don't know what cars they were but most of them were track prepared Ferrari's from the '70's. You think a Ferrari with Tubis sounds exorbitant? Wait till you hear one of these tuned up beasts do a lap around track, it will put all exhaust notes to shame. Its pure bliss! They did about 23 laps. No mishaps and failures.

Next up was the Ferrari F430 challenge which involved about 29 F430's if I remember right. All with customised graphics, body work, lowered suspension, roll cage and the works. The race pattern was a flying start an F430 with hazard lights guides the chain of F430's in order of qualifying that happened the previous day and then it enters the start lane at the end of the lap as soon as 29-30 F430's go ballistic at the first corner I am praying hard that no one ends up in a crash. I have taken the tunnel by now and want to explore the track from various stands. We are exactly parallel the main stands now with a much clearer view of the track. Its a brilliantly executed race track. They have changed the order by blocking a straight long down hill left hander into a tight 'S' chicane to slow these beasts down. Just after 5 laps one of the F430's has a blown engine. Sadly he was the race leader. Well to sum it up just two of that entire pack don't finish the race. The track cleaners are out cleaning up the track of any debris and all that.

Enjoy the pics while I write the 1950's race cars experience:

My pick of the days favorite car around the track has to be car # 31. Note the exhaust coming of the side with wraps:

And the license plate of this blue F430 read Apple Computer, Employee 33585 (anyone from Apple in here?):

Well to ogle at cars . I will get the Alfa pics in a day or two. My buddy has them in his camera. I ran out of batteries twice on the track.

But here's a pic you guys may like of the modified track to slow down the F430's:

Question 1- Is that a 256 GTO???
Question 2- I know the beetle is red. But does it think it is a ferrari??
Question 3- Is that the "WHOOMPA" porsche?

^^ What do you mean "WHOOMPA" Porsche? It looks like a 911 turbo(930) from the mid to late 80's.

Nice pics. A few guys I know from another forum I frequent were there with their cars. Also, my cousin works at Apple, but not sure I want to ask him to figure out who's car that is.
