My day out at Boardwalk Ferrari

Just happened to know that there is a exotic show happening(last saturday) at Boardwalk Ferrari, Plano, Dallas. Now I stay in Irving and there is practically no public transport to speak of, the issue was "How to get there"? Checked out Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz etc but prices were too high. Came to know of Enterprise.com and rented out a Kia Spectra.I opted for the full insurance coverage and damage waiver, so that I wouldn't go bankrupt if s.h.i.t happened.Insurance charges were double the rental cost !!!.

Kia Spectra is an Insipid car,I should say, inspite of the 130 odd horses - Why, my Swift D back home was more fun to drive !. This was my first experience with automatics and I have to say that it gets so boring, it almost sucked. To relieve the boredom, I pushed 'er to a 100 on the turnpike, but then I was pushing my luck. I later came to know that police can put me in jail if I am caught on the wrong side on 100 mph!. Another funny thing was, I didn't know that turnpike was a tollroad, so missed one tollstation, drew up alongside a coin machine at another, but pushed off as I didn't have any coins on me. It was only on the return journey that I figured out there was a coin change booth. Well, Enterprise may get some bills on my behalf !

I did a reconnaissance run to the Ferrari showroom on Friday evening, and watched a Ferrari 430 spider being loaded to an 18 wheeler. The pics are still in my mobile and I will put up later.

Come staturday, and I made my way to Plano again, so see a whole lot of exotics line up on their lawn. Ferrari 355 Challenge,328 GTS, 430 Spiders(very common), 308's ,360 Spider, 355 GTB, Testarossa, 512M, 550, 512BBi, 330GT, Mondials - Almost the entire model lineup was there ! I couldn't see a Dino or Enzo, though. Alfa Romeos, an assortment of lamborghinis, Porshe's, Maserati's, Aston Martin's added to the spice. Garnishing was provided by a lone Ford GT, A Saleen S7 and a de Tomaso pantera.

I wouldn't even try to describe the emotions I experienced, it was too overwhelming for me. I just walked around shamelessly, ogling at the beauties, unaware of the hot sun hovering over me. I will let the pictures talk.

The pictures aren't mine, so no credit to me. After the event, I had a couple of beers with a few friendly Ferrari owners and then I left. When I came out to pick my car, I found a car driving around the 512M in the parking lot, trying to take pictures from all conceivable angles. talk of adulation!

Btw, Maserati's are the only cars that you can go to a Ferrari showroom and buy off the shelf(new). The only Ferrari's available for display were the used ones.

Reached my attachment limit, I guess. So no pics of the miura, the lone Saleen and Maserati. The owner of a silver Ferrari offered to take me for a ride, but I missed him at the pub. WHAADDAMISS !

Great pictures, Kuttapan, and an equally well-written report. Some parts of your writeup cracked me up.

Seeing so many supercars in one place would have been a heck of an experience....you must have gone ballistic. Did you *hear* any of them being revved or was it an all stationary show? I am surprised that there wasn't a single F40, F50, Enzo or even a Mclaren?

Whaddaya mean you missed him at the pub? Some supercar owners can be extremely nice and willing to share the supercar experience.

What attachment limit? The only one that exists is of 20 images per post. But you can always add them in the next. What error are you seeing? Can you give me a screenshot?

IT was not an all stationary show, occassionally someone would start their car and start revving. I liked the burble of the Saleen. Wicked, I should say. Ferrari sounded more cultured, Lambo had a different sound sound.

I saw a 430 spider being gunned and realised what acceleration is..

Sorry Zak, not too many engine pics. Whatever I have find below. Because Maserati was appreciated so much, a pic of it from another angle.

End of story.
