Honda is not a low segment volumes player. Toyota, VW, GM, Hyundai and Ford all are present in the lower segments of the market across the world...

It's infact a high-end volume player hence the difference.

Example - in the US, Honda Civic sells at roughly the same price as that of Camry.

Also, look at the value of the sales - Honda would be way above Hyundai.

Add the fact that Honda is developing a new low segment car (below the Jazz) for markets such as India....and you might just see them bouncing back!

honda lower than hyundai :o
but i think hyundai deserves it. Their new generation vehicles are really competitive and value for money.

Where's Suzuki ? Its nowhere to be seen. I read in some other thread that Suzuki is at no.4. But here it is nowhere to be seen. Ford has moved from 2nd to 4th in 2 years.

That is not in terms of sale. It is the 4th most reputed automaker. And that too it's not suzuki; it's Maruti-Suzuki

When I was in the US and my roommate was looking for a new car, his choice was a fully loaded civic vs a mid-spec camry. Accord was pricey, Corolla was cheaper than civic.

Anyways what I said earlier has changed quite a bit now - checked Honda and Toyota's sites and it appears that Toyota has moved up on its pricing too. Still it sells $1000-$2000 cheaper than a Honda. I guess I can still safely say that Honda targets the high-end of the volumes market.

WHOA! My heartiest congratulations to Hyundai. Cheers to a quantum achievement, and one that is well deserved by a truly remarkable company. It was only two decades back that Hyundai's were laughed at. Then, for the past decade, Honda and Toyota have been looking over their shoulders. Now, they are standing side by side. Well....almost.

Aggressive marketing, value pricing, consistently improving quality, no more quirky designs and some really fab cars have taken Hyundai to the global Top 5! Its amazing what one can achieve in only 20 years.

This is definitely an eye opener. I though that VW is fourth, Fiat is sixth, Honda is Fifth, but its changed much in relatively less amount of time.

Anyways, Congratulations to Hyundai. Achieving this feat in some short amount of time is what must be appreciated.

Good job by Hyundai. And with the new Genesis sedan (and coupe in the future?), things can only look up for them.

Can't believe Chrysler's sales have dropped so much. The Big 3 are being referred to as the Big 2.5 these days.

Not bounce back, but climb up.

All Kudos to Hyundai, though. With the 'Genesis' line set to be their premium offering, they can only go further. Hopefully they have better teams at their helm than the chaps at HMIL who have consistently got their pricing and positioning wrong for the last 2 years.

honda is a budget brand and considering their portfolio,they deserve their credit for being in his ranking too

asians are comming up and fast

indian and chinese companies also have a lot to do with the down fall of western companies even though they are no where near top ten

I can't wait to see how Genesis pans out. Hyundai need to focus on one thing, and one thing only : PREMIUM engineering. Their luxo range needs to be refined, well insulated from the road and scream luxury. It must also have a good balance between ride and handling.
