The rear looks so much like Lexus RX-350. Ugly is the only word that comes to my mind. How are they going to sell this as a macho vehicle? I thought they wanted to compete in the true-SUV category with VW Touareg (not sure about this now as they have merged) and BMW X5. This one looks like a beaten down version.

First the panemera and now this cayenne! This is so hideous! The face is more scary than the butt IMO. Side lines look good, but the rest is just horrendous!
exactly Dante , i got the same opinion for the car , porsche has gone too far and rather exploited itself in a bad taste.
i think from front looks they are again gone back to their first version and not anything new .

The New Cayenne will come with an 8 speed Automatic transmission replacing the old 6 speed gearbox.
It also is 45mm longer; wheel base is extended by 40mm.

Thanks to the broader use of Aluminium in the new Cayenne’s construction, notably in its bonnet, doors, axles and front bumper – the new car is almost 200kgs lighter in spite of being bigger in size than the old Cayenne. That is more than a 10% weight reduction.

The average CO2 emissions figure for the new Cayenne fleet is 23% lower than the old one.
Another huge improvement is going to be the fuel consumption. 3 out of 5 different versions of the Cayenne will better 10 kilometres per litre of fuel (28mpg).

For comfort, it has a more heavily contoured sliding rear seat that can be adjusted by 160mm fore-and-aft and uses a back rest that can be adjusted by six degrees.
The boot capacity has gone up from 540 ltrs to 670 ltrs.
Following are the models, Porsche is going to offer with their approximate prices:-
1. Cayenne V6 3600cc V6 300bhp 65 lakhs
2. Cayenne S 4800cc V8 400bhp 85 lakhs
3. Cayenne Turbo 4800cc V8 500bhp
4. Cayenne Diesel 3000cc V6 240bhp 70 lakhs
5. Cayenne Hybrid 3000cc V6 374bhp

Looks like the new Touareg with a ugly Porsche nose(with Panamera-esque lamps).Family resemblance is quite evident with two cars having almost identical side-profiles and window lines.

The leaked images of Cayanne (courtsey SIDINDICA) are much better (sauve) than the existing model. Headlights seem to be inspired from Panamera.

I'm going to reinforce Sid's post here with some news I got from 911Spirit.

Looks like the web developers made a little mistake on Porsche’s European car configurator web site as they posted there an image of the next generation Cayenne. Of course the image has been removed now and is replaced with the current generation Cayenne GTS.

According to sources' information, it will be lighter, more compact and sportier than the current generation.

World debut is in early March at the Geneva Motor Show.

First official images-New 2nd gen Porsche Cayenne

2011 Porsche Cayenne SUV Leaks Out: First Official Images and Details - Carscoop

Breaking news: after a couple of scanned magazine photos gave us our first glimpse at the new 2011 Porsche Cayenne earlier today, a whole batch of official images of Stuttgart's completely redesigned SUV model have just been published online.

The verdict is still out on the new Cayenne's styling, but from what we can tell by these images, the next generation of Porsche's most profitable model looks less clumsy and a bit more sleeker than its predecessor thanks to a lowered roofline, steeper angle of the rear tailgate and sharper looking snout.

Then again there's that awkwardly styled rear end that could be mistaken for any other SUV - Crossover model - you didn't hear the word "Nissan" from us.

The interior has been redesigned from the ground up with the dashboard and center and lower consoles looking very similar to the Panamera sports sedan.

The new Cayenne shares its platform with the also new Volkswagen Touareg while using various mechanical bits and pieces from the Panamera.

And even though it has grown in length some 40mm, like the Touareg, Porsche's SUV model is somewhere around 200kg or about 440 pounds lighter than the outgoing Cayenne.

From what we know, powetrain options will include the VW Group-sourced 3.6-liter V6 petrol with 300HP (also found in the Panamera) and 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel with 240HP, as well as a 4.8-liter V8 in naturally aspirated (Cayenne S 400HP) and turbocharged forms (Cayenne Turbo 500HP).

Furthermore, the Cayenne will be offered with the same diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain as the Touareg coupling a 3.3-liter supercharged V6 TSI producing 333HP and 265 lb-ft of torque to a 47HP electric motor for a total output of 380HP and 428 lb-ft.

The 2011 Cayenne will have its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show early next week and go on sale this Spring.

Looks more subtle compared to the outgoing model which I really liked a lot.

This really looks good. I mean, the earlier model was like you may love it or hate it but you can't ignore it. But this one is gonna get a thumbs up from the majority.

I do not like the rear. It looks very Korean and reminds me of the Santa Fe and something else as well! Seems to have lost that solidity about it. The rest of it is fine though!
