I came across this news of Megane III. This car has become more interesting after the raid on one automotive magazine.

@Mods: I tried searching, but could not find a thread for Megane III.
If found any other thread, please take appropriate action.

One of last week’s hottest news stories involved the French Police raid at Auto Plus (magazine) over spy pictures and details of a new model that were leaked to the press.

Well, we’re far away from France and unlike what is implied in the newspapers regarding a journalist at Auto Plus, we didn’t have any inside information – but our spy snappers stumbled upon a video shoot in the United States involving the next Megane. And although we have a variety of people attempting to cover the vehicle, photographers managed to get pictures of the next Megane – showroom ready!

The new Renault Megane III will be launched at the Paris Motor Show later this year and, as you can see, will be a strong departure from the current Megane design.

The new Megane will be a small family car offered in 3- and 5-door hatchback guise, with other versions (sedan, coupe, convertible, station wagon and probably crossover body-styles) to follow. Built on the same platform as the Nissan Qashqai, this European Renault will engage in a formidable fight with the Peugeot 308, Fiat Bravo and VW Golf VI, and will obviously be much more than just a mature evolution of the current Megane.

It is little more than a month away until the first international motor show of the season commences in the French capital, it must be about time for the leakages, first up is the all-new Renault Megane III. Ten high resolution images of the five-door version have been uncovered by KM77.com revealing all the styling details for all to see.
The new Megane is based on the Nissan Qashqai and it will enter the European arena against the likes of the Peugeot 308, Fiat Bravo and VW Golf VI.
This five-door model is expected to be joined in Paris with a three-door version before further body styles are released over the next 12 months, these variants will include the coupe, estate and convertible version.

Clean and modern but I liked the older one's "bum". It stood out

wow. a beautiful hatch. but the bonnet could have been plainer and the logo better placed.

Stylish hatch. it looks like a longish one. excellent aerodynamic design. Seems renault launched their ugly ducking logan in india to find out the basic market for europen cars. :P

Wow! Now thats a hot looking hatch. Very long too. Will be really spacious.

God, it doesn't look horrible.

Wierd taste:Shockked:- I always felt that the Megane has one of the ugliest bottoms. Like a middle aged aunty who was overfed and spent all her life in a chair.lol:

It is an interesting design. Nice pics. Renault is a very popular brand in UK. It should take its more popular cars to India. The current portfolio is not something to talk about.

LOL, nothing compares to the comparisions you guys make on this forum :uncontrol
On Topic: I like this very much, almost as much as the new Mitsubishi hatch.

Officially released.

Official: All-New Renault Mégane Released

Despite high anticipation of one of Europe's most important cars, today's official release is slightly anti-climatic as leaked images from last week already deflated any potential surprise. Nonetheless, the official detailed press kit has been released with plenty of photos, this time with interior shots, and those loyal to the Megane will pour over this information with much intensity.

The new Mégane stands 4.30m in length with a 2.64m wheelbase and 1.55m width. The Megane has a boot volume of 405 liters (dm3).

Features highlights include hands-free entry and ignition, automatic locking as the driver walks away from the car, a Carminat Bluetooth DVD navigation system and a custom-developed audio system (3D Sound by Arkamys).

The dCi 85 and dCi 105 engines have been joined by the dCi 90 and the particulate filter-equipped dCi 110. Every one of these engines emits less than 120g of CO2/km, while the new dCi 130 emits just 135g/km. Peak power (130hp/96kW) arrives sooner too (at 3,750rpm instead of 4,000rpm), and maximum torque (300Nm) is available from 1,750rpm instead of 2,000rpm. The engine line-up will shortly be extended to include the dCi 160 coupled with a manual gearbox and the dCi 150 mated to automatic transmission.

The petrol range includes the 1.6 16V 100hp and 110hp engines, as well as the 2.0 16V 140hp and the Tce 180. The 2.0 16V will be available from launch with a six-speed manual gearbox, while continuously variable transmission will be introduced with this powerplant at a later date. Renault’s latest petrol engine, the Tce 130 will be added in the spring of 2009. The new Mégane range will also include biofuel-compatible engines (bioethanol and biodiesel).

Following its public debut in Paris early next month the all-new Renault Mégane goes on sale from November 2008. With a market share of one-third in Europe's biggest C-segment, the Megane is a very important vehicle as it makes a significant contribution to Renault’s performance in terms of both volume and profitability. This time around Renault has paid close attention to quality, in particular to fit, finish and materials as well as reliability and durability.

Excellent looking hatch. How long do you think this would take to make an entry to Indian roads, if it really would? :)
